A 4 Week Yoga Alliance Approved 200 Hour Teacher Training focusing on Iyengar Yoga. The Schedule is rigorous meeting 6 days a week starting Tuesday September 2 and ending on Saturday September 26th.

The Course is given by Richard Schachtel, Founder and Director of The Center for Yoga of Seattle. Richard has taught Iyengar Yoga for over 30 years and is the Seattle Area’s most experienced Iyengar Yoga Teacher, and only approved Iyengar Yoga Teacher Trainer.

The training is for those looking to develop teaching skills and for those wanting to immerse themselves in learning one of the most powerful yoga systems available. Iyengar Yoga is considered by many to be The Gold Standard of yoga systems.

Iyengar Yoga is known for it’s exacting focus on alignment, its ability to make yoga accessible to a wide range of student population(of ages, body types, physical conditions, injuries,and more), it’s development of whole body strength as well as flexibility, it’s wide range of practices from dynamic practice sessions, to restorative yoga, to yoga therapeutics,as well as the high quality of its teachers. The alignment principles taught in this training can be applied to any system of yoga.

Some of the areas of focus of the training will include:

  1. Developing a personal yoga practice.
  2. Iyengar Yoga Teaching Methodology: The Arts of Demonstration, Instruction, Observation and Correction.
  3. Sequencing practices, classes and courses.
  4. Learning how to deal with common problems in the yoga class: helping those with back, knee, neck,& shoulder problems, hamstring injuries, and more.
  5. Anatomy for Yoga
  6. Yoga Philosophy
  7. Ethics of teaching Yoga
  8. Yoga for Women
  9. Restorative Yoga
  10. Pranayama

The course will be offered in also in 2015 in March, June, July & September.

You can also take this training in a series of 6 Day Modules taking for example the first week of this training in September 2014, the second week of this training in March 2015, the third week of this training in June 2015, and the 4th week in July 2015. The course dates can be taken adjusted to your preferences but must be taken in sequential order 1 before 2 etc.

Richard also teaches a 1 year Evening Program on Tuesday nights 6-10pm (no weekends) starting November 4, 2014, and a 1 year Weekend Program starting April 11, 2015.
