A 4 Week Yoga Alliance Approved 200 Hour Teacher Training focusing on developing the experience and knowledge to move you closer toward teaching Yoga. Immersion yoga teacher trainings are becoming commonplace in the Seattle area. This course has a track record of proven results. June 2014 participants have rated this course as a 9.5 out of a 10.

Course is given by Richard Schachtel, Founder and Director of The Center for Yoga of Seattle. Richard has taught Iyengar Yoga for over 30 years and is the Seattle Area’s most experienced Iyengar Yoga Teacher, and only approved Iyengar Yoga Teacher Trainer. Richard has made 20 yoga study trips to India with work closely with BKS Iyengar and Geeta Iyengar two of the foremost yoga teachers in the world.

The training is for those looking to develop teaching skills and for those wanting to immerse themselves in learning one of the most powerful yoga systems available. Iyengar Yoga is considered by many to be The Gold Standard of yoga systems.

Iyengar Yoga is known for it’s exacting focus on alignment, its ability to make yoga accessible to a wide range of student population(of ages, body types, physical conditions, injuries,and more), it’s development of whole body strength as well as flexibility, it’s wide range of practices from dynamic practice sessions, to restorative yoga, to yoga therapeutics,as well as the high quality of its teachers.

Some of the areas of focus of the training will include:

  1. Developing a personal yoga practice.
  2. Iyengar Yoga Teaching Methodology: The Arts of Demonstration, Instruction, Observation and Correction.
  3. Sequencing practices, classes and courses.
  4. Learning how to deal with common problems in the yoga class: helping those with back, knee, neck,& shoulder problems, hamstring injuries, and more.
  5. Anatomy for Yoga
  6. Yoga Philosophy, &The History & Development of Yoga
  7. Ethics of teaching Yoga
  8. Yoga for Women
  9. Restorative Yoga
  10. Pranayama, The Yogic Art of Breathing

The course will also be offered in also in 2015 in May/June, and September.

You can also take the training in four 5- 6 Day Modules over a 7-16 month period.

Richard also teaches a 1 year weekend program for those desiring a more gradual program that starts in April each year, and an Evening Teacher Training and In-Depth Studies course meeting on Wednesdays 6-10pm that starts September 2, 2015.

Richard teaches a 300 hour advanced teacher training for those wanting to make their RYT-200 into a RYT-500 and conducts an Apprenticeship and Mentorship Program.

Graduates of this course can enroll in Richard’s 3 week August Immersion in 2015 and August 2016 (a 300 hour advanced teacher training) to earn a 500 yoga certificate.

The fee for the 200 hour training is $2,900.
