Evening Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training & In-Depth Studies Course with Richard Schachtel

This year-long course focuses on Iyengar Yoga. Students will meet weekly on Tuesday evenings over an 18 month time period (45 class meetings 6-10pm with a dinner break).

The Center for Yoga of Seattle offers this 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training & In-Depth Studies Course with Richard Schachtel, one of the most experienced yoga teacher trainers in the US. The course is based upon Iyengar Yoga, known as an Alignment and Precision Oriented System of Yoga.

Regardless of what training you have had or what type of yoga you may want to teach in the future, having training in Iyengar Yoga is invaluable to understanding the Art of How to Practice and How to Teach.

BKS Iyengar was the most influential yoga teacher in world over the past 60 years. Some of his most famous books include, Light on Yoga, Light on Pranayama, Light on The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and Light on Life. Over 10 million people worldwide practice Iyengar Yoga.

Richard Schachtel has been training yoga teachers in Seattle since 1986. He founded The Center For Yoga of Seattle in 1980. He was a close student of the late BKS Iyengar, and continues to train with his daughter Geeta Iyengar. Richard is the Seattle area’s only authorized Iyengar Yoga teacher trainer and has approval from Yoga Alliance to give this 200 Hour Teacher Training.

This training is for those who want to teach yoga, for those who want to build a personal yoga practice, as well as for those interested in deepening an existing practice. It is also terrific continuing education for current yoga teachers.

Graduates of the course will be able to register with Yoga Alliance as a Yoga Alliance 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher.

The material in this course is extremely valuable. You will strengthen and deepen your personal yoga practice. You will get clearer as to what is important for you to practice and how to do it correctly.

You will learn more about the rich history and the variety of influences that make up modern yoga, including Samkhya, Vedanta, and Tantra.

You will learn about Sequencing Yoga Classes, Sequencing 8 week yoga courses, and personal yoga practices. You will develop vitally important skills in the Arts of Demonstration, Teaching, Observation, and Correction. You will learn how, when and why to start a pranayama practice.

We will be learning how to practice both for your own development and for teaching yoga. Most importantly you will be learning the fundamentals of Iyengar Yoga, considered the Gold Standard of Yoga Systems. Iyengar Yoga is an incredibly adaptable method of yoga that can be used to make yoga accessible to a wide range of student populations.
