Are your ready to start doing handstands?

This is a series of six classes using strength training with kettlebells, body weight exercises, and yoga techniques to enable you to perform a steady, solid handstand. We will train the upper body and core to develop the strength necessary to safely handstand, while coming to understand the actions and alignments of this complex, challenging posture. We will practice handstanding against the wall, and progress to free-standing handstands. Students can even learn how to press up into a handstand, and perform variations such as scorpion pose. We’ll learn different ways to get up, how to stay up, and how to come down safely.

Handstands are fun! This course is designed to increase strength, balance, confidence and familiarity with being upside-down.

Class is taught by FIT by Red trainer Lia Leilah. Lia is a yogini with a passion for kettlebells. A devoted practitioner of traditional Ashtanga yoga for over a decade, Lia has traveled extensively, including several visits to India, to study with many of the foremost Ashtanga teachers in the world. She has recently added kettlebells to her training and is a StrongFirst Kettlebell Instructor.

Schedule: Sundays 1pm at Capitol Hill May 31- July 12th. (6/21 is off)
