Mark your calendars for a 3-day community celebration of yoga! From Friday, June 17th through Sunday, June 19th, Aham Yoga (AY) will be celebrating International Yoga Day with everything from yoga classes, workshops, talks, kids yoga, beginners yoga, jala neti kriya (neti pot) cleansing, photo booth to yoga movies and a community potluck. Aham is the only studio in the area to celebrate this holiday with as much enthusiasm and excitement – so don’t miss out! Recognizing the powerful benefits of uniting through yoga, we join nearly 175 nations across the world to celebrate this ancient practice of India.

WHAT IS INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY?

International Yoga Day has been celebrated unofficially all over the world for decades, and in November of 2014, during his address to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, stated,“Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. This tradition is 5,000 years old. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature.” One month later, in December of 2014, International Day of Yoga was declared on June 21st, the longest day of the year.
