Anatomy Essentials is a two-part series for savvy yoga teachers, practicing body workers or advanced yoga students. This C.E.C will fill in the blanks, expand your experience, and increase your knowledge. A must for the effective leader of all types of movement.

Session One: Saturday, March 19 | 12:45 – 3:45pm
Alignment and Range of Motion: A tour of major joints in the body and how to keep them healthy

Chiara will help deepen our understanding of the functional body. She will answer commonly asked questions, such as: What does the joint do? What is the natural range of motion for this joint? How do we support and stretch it safely? What are the signs of overuse and hyper-mobility?

Expand your understanding of how to keep the musculo-skeletal system functioning happily for a lifetime. Explore, in your own body, what healthy and natural movement feels like. Join us as we examine each joint and how it should function naturally & pain free.

Session Two: Saturday, March 26 | 12:45 – 3:45pm
Common Injuries, Imbalances and Pathologies: Understanding and learning how to work with them

What causes “low back pain”? Why are there so many shoulder injuries in class? How do you advise the student who reveal that they have a “condition”? How do we guide and inform our students skillfully? We will investigate the panorama of common injuries, issues and complaints that our students are experiencing. Chiara will guide us to help modify, support and offer the right option for each student. We want to support them, educate them and keep them coming back to class…this session will help us understand the “do’s” and “don’ts” that a skillful teacher needs to know.

Chiara Guerrieri practices and teaches yoga as a way to work with the perception that body and mind are separate. She teaches us how to connect the breath with the body, how to track physical sensation moment to moment and how to find an internal wisdom that guides movement and choices for well-being. Chiara has been teaching anatomy and physiology since 2000, yoga since 1996, and practicing massage therapy since 1983.

Chiara has studied a wide-range of bodymind disciplines – NonViolent Communication, SoulMat, Meditation, Hypnosis, Neuro Linguistic Programming and Massage – mastering the material deeply enough to provide instruction in each of these areas. Teaching itself is one of her greatest joys. A long-time mover and shaker, Chiara’s passion for movement forms has enriched her life with dance, yoga and daily walks in nature. She loves gardening, foreign travel, everything that smells good, warm-oil foot massages, flowers on the table and foods that both tastes and feels good in the body.

Price: $130 for both sessions; $70 for one session
