“What do NorthWest Flow Fest volunteers do?” There are 3 main categories of volunteer shifts: BLISS FAIRYs, HI FIVEs, and CLOUDs. (Isn’t it more fun like this?)

  • BLISS FAIRYs are WORKSHOP ASSISTANTS, and HOSTS of the workshop space. Their job is keep the instructor ON TIME, to support the instructor with any tasks they request, and to ENSURE the safety of the group taking the workshop. You are ALSO supporting the instructor in CHECKING for wristband EVERYONE in the workshop MUST HAVE a wristband on. If they don’t, it means they haven’t signed the waiver. NO BUENO. This is actually where the term Bliss Fairy comes in: if you see people in workshops who DON’T HAVE A WRISTBAND ON, you need to BLISS THEM OUT of the workshop and over to the Registration Tent. Hi Fives will take it from there.
  • HI FIVEs are our greeters. They staff the registration tent, checking people in, having them sign liability waivers and general releases, taking money for passes and occasionally additional merchandise. HI FIVEs are also the information hub of the fest: people come to you for schedules, workshop descriptions, and sanity. And: high fives.
  • CLOUDs- what do clouds do? They FLOAT. They also MAKE IT RAIN. Mostly, they enjoy the open space of the fest and are generally available for covering vending booths for short intervals. Clouds can get whirled up into workshops for short spans of time.

“Do we get to take workshops also?” YES! If you are SCHEDULED for a BLISS FAIRY shift, you will be assisting in a WORKSHOP. So, TAKE THE WORKSHOP! You are free to take as many workshops when you are OFF SHIFT as you like!
