Seattle joined the 3rd annual Yogathon global event which took place in Bellevue, Wash., on Sunday, August 17. About 100 people gathered together to raise money in support of Care for Children, a charity program dedicated to providing free education to rural youth in India.

The event consisted of a 108 sun salutations sequence led by Aniruddha Jagannath, Pavel Dmitriev, Arundhati Baitmangalkar, Stephanie Purtell, Marchella Yokoyama and Zach Endicott. As the teachers were leading the event, the volunteers ensured that everyone was taken care of — they passed bottles of water around while people were practicing, provided mats for people who just walked by but wanted to join in and answered any questions that people may have had.

At the end, people gathered together to chat while enjoying fresh fruit salad provided by the volunteers. Jagannath and Dmitriev, the main organizers, said they were pleased with how the event turned out and they couldn’t have been happier and more thankful for all of the community support. This event has gone global with more than 40 cities participating worldwide to celebrate and support.
