This is a 200 hour yoga teacher training program led by Dora Gyarmati and registered with the Yoga Alliance. The program starts in September 2014 and meets on select weekends until April 2015 making it easy for you to fit it into your busy life (Sept 19-21, Oct 10-12, Oct 24-26, Nov 21-23, Dec 12-14, Jan 23-25, Feb 20-22, Apr 3-5, Apr 17-19).

If you’ve been searching for a 200 hour program that will provide you with both a western scientific approach and eastern philosophy, look no more! This training will teach you the foundations and history of yoga, anatomy, and how to teach beginners to advanced — not just what is “required” for a quick teaching certificate. Due to its unique teaching and approach, this workshop sells out fast. Don’t wait until the last minute as space is limited. Note that this training is not only for those who seek to teach!

You will graduate from this program and be equipped in both realms. You will learn the history of yoga and be well rounded in classical yogic texts. The training will dive deep into understanding anatomy, nutrition, self care including making time for your own practice, students’ different learning styles, different teaching styles, hands on assisting, the business of yoga and more. Cognitive therapy will be emphasized along with modern psychiatry methods. Your trainers will artfully overlay ancient yoga teachings and embed them into modern science. You will learn how to teach yoga without preaching a particular spirituality.

This training will make you feel comfortable teaching students of any level; from total beginners starting a practice later life to advanced yogis and flexible gymnasts in their twenties. Completing Teacher Training at Spira will provide you the tools necessary to inspire students from gyms to yoga festivals. Should you have no desire to teach, the training will deepen your knowledge of yoga and help you gain a better understanding of your own practice.

The training includes sessions with the following guest teachers:

  • Shannon K. R. Schneider PhD – Immunology
