The Friday Night Yoga Party returns for it’s second annual outdoor charitable yoga event. This year Be Luminous Yoga donated the proceeds to the Deaf-Blind Service Center (DBSC) of Seattle. DBSC provides services that promote self-sufficiency and promote high quality of life to deaf and blind clients throughout the Greater Seattle area. Services range from grocery shopping, providing transportation, case management and even support groups.

Lydia Killos guided the attendees through a meditation session before Vanessa Payne and Norah Elges Schneyer led the group through an all-levels yoga class that was challenging yet accessible to all. Jeff Wildenstein provided American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation to deaf and blind guests. DJ Phelonious played some uplifting beats to guide the students through their practice.

Over 100 yogis attended the event. The South Lake Union Park lawn was covered in colorful yoga mats and philanthropic yogis wanting to make a change in their community. Attendees who donated $30 received a yoga swag bag provided by Manduka and various other vendors. Vendors attending the event were Mpow(h)er clothing, Nuun, Essentia Water, Sweetgrass Food Co., Mindful Muffins, Kind Bars and Hux Goods. Towards the end of the event, FNYP staff conducted a raffle and some attendees won free clothes, yoga classes and many other prizes from the vendors and sponsors.

Be Luminous Yoga plans on making the event an annual thing. Sign-up for our newsletter to receive notifications for events that will be worth being under the sunset for.
