Salutations to the sun. To the awakening light within. To the dawning of higher consciousness in all beings!
Set the tone for 2017 with a practice of receptivity and surrender in a community of like minded souls. Sun Salutations or Surya Namaskar, are innately expressions of gratitude. Go beyond the mere physicality of this practice to connect and salute the unifying light within us all.
Surya Namaskar requires the art of being still in the midst of movement. How might one contact this stillness while taking the body through what seems like, outwardly at least, a series of restless gyrations? HINT: the breath!
108 rounds of Surya Namaskar may seem unconquerable, but don’t write it off just yet! There will be plenty of breaks and modifications to make the practice work for people of all levels. We do suggest you have a basic knowledge of sun salutations.
When: January 1st, 2017 from 3-6pm
Where: Ananda Yoga Hall
What: 108 Sun Salutations, breaks taken after every 12 sets, and modifications offered. Refreshments will follow.
Dress: In comfortable layers
Cost: Donations accepted
Registration: Pre-registration is encouraged so we can plan for snacks
