Who Is The Iya Kin Instructor?
The Iya Kin Instructor is an advocate and storyteller, holding intuitively brave space for self study within the lived experience of marginalized communities.
He/she/they are highly skilled instructors who’s practice explores the multidisciplinary grounds of yoga beyond performative asana. In turn, they are devoted to their journey of self mastery and dismantling systems of oppression that perpetuate harm.
Learning Beyond Yoga Alliance
We believe in reducing the commodification of yoga to create equitable practices rooted in dismantling white supremacy and honoring the lived experiences of other’d communities. It is for this reason that Iya Kin has chosen not to be affiliated with Yoga Alliance. Upon completion of our program students will be 200-HR certified Iya Kin yoga instructors.

About the lead instructors: Abiola Akanni & Terilyn Wylder
A leader in the community and field of yoga, Abiola Akanni has successfully cultivated inclusive wellness spaces that encourage individuals to develop their personal yoga practice.
The Nigerian-American, certified yoga instructor is the wellness influencer behind Yoga by Biola and the founder of the radically body-positive Trap VinyasaTM and Body Party event series. Akanni is on the cutting edge of the global wellness scene, presenting her workshops and events at major festivals and conferences around the world in addition to speaking about wellness education on major platforms.
Her liberating mission holds space for healing, while her creative teaching style offers physical and emotional introspection. The wellness entrepreneur is also the creator of The Divine Feminine Yoga Workshop, designed to help individuals embrace the archetypes of the divine feminine.
Abiola’s soulful teachings continue to redefine the yoga and wellness arena while offering representation and cultural expression.
What to expect in Terilyn’s classes: Terilyn’s weekly classes at Capitol Hill, Phinney Ridge and West Seattle are deeply rooted in building community. Her style is a strong and challenging and provides a dynamic blend of mindful vinyasa, infused with Bhakti (devotion) through uplifting fun music (live kirtan Sunday nights), chanting/singing, storytelling, poetry, and guided meditation. Her intention as a teacher is to create space for every body to feel equally valued and welcomed.
