2020 Summer Retreat at North Cascades National Park with Douglas Ridings and *Claudette Evans

The gift of retreat – setting aside time to replenish your spirit, re-connect with the self, and align to your yoga – is an essential component of a content practice. In this weekend retreat you will be able to immerse yourself in nature’s beauty and enjoy a balance of personal time within the context of a mindful and caring yoga community. Join Douglas Ridings and Claudette Evans in this summer yoga retreat designed to foster an awakening to your inner source of compassion, strength and vitality.

Nestled in the beautiful North Cascades National Park, this weekend retreat will provide the opportunity to celebrate summer by exploring seasonal themes, forms, and variations through asana, dedicated meditation time, and personal time to discover the surrounding environment.

In addition to daily yoga classes, in this special retreat, you can expect to have time set aside to partake in a few extra experiences that both Douglas and Claudette bring to the retreat, including mudra, dance, and physical arts, as well as music, mantra, philosophy and Sanskrit, the language of yoga.

There will also be an optional guided canoe outing on glacier-fed Diablo Lake ($25 additional charge) where you can explore inlets, islands, and Thunder Arm by boat. North Cascade Institute (NCI) staff will lead this trip in their Salish-style 18-person canoe. Note: If you are interested in signing up for the canoe trip, please mention it to 8 Limbs staff when you register. The deadline to register for the canoe trip is Monday, May 4, 2020. Enjoy deluxe and nutritious meals prepared as part of NCI’s “foodshed initiative”, give yourself the opportunity to connect with nature, and take your yoga practice to one of the most beautiful settings in the Northwest.

While all levels of practitioners will be supported, we ask that you have a minimum steady yoga practice of at least six months. The retreat promises a rich time away from the hustle and bustle of life to reconnect with what is most important to you.

Location: North Cascades Institute’s Environmental Learning Center (ELC) is located on Diablo Lake in the heart of the North Cascades National Park. A partnership with the National Park Service and the City of Seattle, the ELC is surrounded by millions of acres of public lands. It is a hub of discovery into one of the wildest, most diverse landscapes in North America. Learns of all ages come to explore and participate in innovative programs that inspire and enrich their lives.
