Register now for a unique Iyengar Yoga 1 Year Evening Yoga Teacher Training. The course meets on Wednesday Evenings from 6-10 pm (with a dinner break). The program starts on February 3, 2016 and ends on March 29th 2017.

This $3,100 course is currently available for 1,499 for a limited time. The training is limited to only 35 people and early registration is advised.

This training will be given by Richard Schachtel a 30 plus year Iyengar Yoga Teacher and Founder & Director of The Center For Yoga of Seattle in Ravenna. Richard has been giving Teacher Training Courses in Seattle since 1986.

Iyengar Yoga is known for it’s exacting focus on alignment, its ability to make yoga accessible to a wide range of student populations(of ages, body types, physical conditions, injuries,and more), it’s development of whole body strength as well as flexibility, it’s wide range of practices from dynamic practice sessions, to restorative yoga, to yoga therapeutics, as well as for the high quality of its teachers.

Iyengar Yoga is not a fixed sequence where you do the same practice every class. The room is not excessively heated. A full range of yoga poses are practiced including inversions. Iyengar Yoga often uses props which greatly increases one’s ability to practice with greater integrity and precision. BKS Iyengar is the author of many books, including “Light on Yoga” “,Light on Pranayama”, & “Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali”
. Richard has regularly trained directly with BKS Iyengar and Geeta Iyengar 20 times in India for over 30 years most recently in 2014.

Some of the areas of focus of the training will include:

  1. Developing a personal yoga practice.
  2. Iyengar Yoga Teaching Methodology: Learning The Art of Demonstration, Instruction, Observation and Correction.
  3. Sequencing practices, classes and courses.
  4. Learning how to deal with common problems in the yoga class: helping those with back, knee, neck,& shoulder problems, hamstring injuries, and more.
  5. Anatomy for Yoga.
  6. This Course has a strong focus on the Philosophy of Yoga, its History and Development and its origins.
  7. Ethics of teaching Yoga.
  8. Yoga for Women.
  9. Restorative Yoga Restorative Yoga actually originated from Iyengar Yoga which most people are not aware of
  10. Pranayama, or The Yogic Art of Breathing. In Iyengar Yoga we teach pranayama in a systematic way starting from a supported reclined position later adding seated practice.

What is Unique about This Training? The unique aspect of this course is that you are receiving training in one of the most effective and intelligent yoga systems available: Iyengar Yoga.

Iyengar Yoga is for all ages and all fitness levels. Richard is The Seattle Area’s Only Authorized Iyengar Yoga Teacher Trainer and this is the only Authorized Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training in this area.

The training is for those wanting to develop and deepen their personal yoga practice, for those wanting to teach, for those currently teaching who would like to enhance their training and skills , as well as for those who are keen to learn more of highly influential Iyengar method of yoga.

Graduates will not be certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers but will be able to be Yoga Alliance RYT-200’s. They may then enroll in Richard’s 300 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training where those with a 200 hour certificate can work toward earning a 500 hour certificate. Richard’s 300 hour courses are taught in either a 2 day weekend format over a 14 month period  with 100 hours of supervised Apprenticeship training OR as a 4 week immersions held each August along with a Supervised Apprenticeship with Richard.

The training is excellent preparation and training for those interested in working toward obtaining eventual certification in Iyengar Yoga.
