Richard Schachtel has been training yoga teachers in Seattle since 1986. He founded The Center For Yoga of Seattle in 1980. He was a close student of the late BKS Iyengar, and continues to train with his daughter Geeta Iyengar. Richard has traveled to India for training with The Iyengar Family 21 times, most recently in December 2015.
Richard has taught throughout the US, and in Australia, and India. He is planning his 22nd yoga study trip in the winter of 2016-2017.
BKS Iyengar was the most influential yoga teacher in world over the past 60 years. Some of his most famous books include, Light on Yoga, Light on Pranayama, Light on The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and Light on Life. The course is approved by Yoga Alliance. Richard is one of the most prolific teacher trainers in Washington State, and his courses have influenced many generations of teachers.
