Richard Schachtel Iyengar Teacher Training

8th Annual Fall Immersion 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training with Richard Schachtel

Program Dates: October 24 to November 13, 2016 (Monday through Sunday)

What is Special about this Teacher Training? The two most important factors are that you getting training in Iyengar Yoga, considered the Gold Standard of Yoga Systems and that you are getting training from a highly experienced yoga teacher and yoga teacher trainer who has studied with some of the foremost yoga teachers in the world. The instructor has been giving yoga teacher training courses since 1986. Over 200 yoga teachers have trained with Richard and nearly 100 are now registered with Yoga Alliance.

Iyengar Yoga is well known as the yoga method with the most emphasis of Alignment and Precision. Its teachers are well trained who learn to teach thoughtful and effective sequences. They are trained to make yoga accessible to all and the skillful use of common yoga props can help in this goal. Iyengar Yoga has developed over a 70 year period by BKS Iyengar, author of the international best seller, Light on Yoga. Over 10 million people practice Iyengar Yoga worldwide.

Regardless of what training you have had or what type of yoga you may want to teach in the future, having training in Iyengar Yoga is invaluable to understanding the Art of How to Practice and How to Teach. We have appreciative  graduates who teach hot yoga, vinyasa flow yoga, ashtanga vinyasa yoga, and other styles who incorporate theses alignment principles into their classes.

Some of the Hallmarks of Iyengar Yoga:

  • The precision of alignment in each pose
  • Learning to do yoga poses that are full of life
  • The skillful use of props to make yoga accessible to everyone, to make the practice more accurate, to give more stability, and to make yoga practice fascinating.
  • Intelligent sequencing
  • Well Trained Teachers

Richard Schachtel has been training yoga teachers in Seattle since 1986. He founded The Center For Yoga of Seattle in 1980. He was a close student of the late BKS Iyengar, and continues to train with his daughter Geeta Iyengar. Richard has traveled to India for training with The Iyengar Family 21 times, most recently in December 2015.

Richard Schachtel founded The Center For Yoga of Seattle in 1980 and continues today as its Director. He is a full-time yoga teacher who works with a variety of students, from rank beginner, to classes in slow/gentle yoga to advanced. He also works privately with those who are injured, are suffering from illness, or are recovering from accidents. Richard has taught throughout the US, and in Australia, and India.

The training is approved by Yoga Alliance and graduates will be able to register as RYT-200.

The experience of this training can give a foundation for a lifetime of enriching yoga practice and teaching!

The tuition for the training is $2,900. We are currently running a Special Promotion for as low as $999 for early sign-ups (see our website specials).

This training is also offered as a 4 week immersion format in March, May/June, July, and September and as a 1 Year Weekend Course starting in April 2016 and 1 Year Course on Tuesday evenings each year.
