Join Ashley for a discussion about how stress and trauma imprint on our bodies and how yoga may either help or hinder the process of discharging such experiences. This 90-minute workshop will include an overview of how yoga influences the nervous system, an introduction to somatic experiencing (a movement-based therapeutic technique used to relieve the symptoms of trauma-related injury), and a brief gentle yoga practice designed to target the areas of the body most influenced by profound anxiety. This event is perfect for all yoga practitioners interested in further exploring the connection between body and mind, no extensive yoga or psychology background is necessary.

About the instructor: Ashley Cecere
Ashley reluctantly discovered yoga in 2009 after a period of profound grief and upheaval. Once an avid runner and swimmer, she wanted to slowly reintegrate movement into her life without shocking her body. Initially, she resisted and hated any form of stillness — even and especially savasana –but found that practicing yoga on a regular basis gifted her with the tools to feel truly safe and strong in her own body for the first time ever. A firm believer in the healing nature of intense and mindful movement, Ashleyβs passion lies in holding space for others to discover their own strength and personal power. She loves to furnish students with information and resources to meet a challenging flow on their mats so that they can better go with the flow off their mats. She still loves to run and swim, too.
