In this workshop of back arching poses we will explore a sequence taking us to upward facing bow in some form either with props(support) or independent.
Upward facing bow in its independent form is when you lie on your back bend your knees and elbows and push up into a back arch.
In order to do a good pose, we need some awareness of how you use our legs and feet properly. We need some strength in the back of the thighs and buttock muscles and the ability to lengthen our from thighs, psoas, and groins.
We must have a good extension of our shoulder joints and know how to deal with any stiffness or problems with our wrists. We must develop a certain strength in our arms or know how to use a belt correctly.
Our back must have sufficient mobility. We must learn how to extend our dorsal spine so that our back arches are not overdone in our lumbar spine.
We must know the sense of direction of the pose to avoid compression and overstretching.
Our goal is to have everyone do some version of this pose safely whether it is an independent pose, or using one or several props to support the body to allow a healthy curvature.
We will also spend some time of the basic actions of the independent pose which is sadly often not known to many yoga students.
Come for a fun, exhilarating, and educational workshop.
The workshop is for all students of yoga except those with serious back and shoulder issues where individual or private instruction is more appropriate.
