A Bhakti Experience with Rob and Melissa

The Yoga Lodge on Whidbey Island

Friday, November 4 – Sunday, November 6, 2016

Join Rob and Melissa for a blissful weekend of meditation, mantra, asana, live music, kirtan and storytelling designed to reveal the deeper meanings and relevance of Bhakti Yoga (the yoga of devotion, or the path of Love).

By exploring the various forms of Bhakti, we invite you to release inhibitions, discover your unique voice and deepen the connection to your heart. We will also take time to discuss practical examples of how to incorporate these methods into your own personal practice. It doesn’t matter whether you are new to Bhakti, or a life-long devotee, join us as we dive into the ocean of devotion during this celebration of the divine within us all!

Your Guides:

Rob and Melissa are Bhakti yogis, teachers and kirtan singers based out of Seattle, WA. Rob’s past experience as a filmmaker is reflected in his passion for the mythology of yoga. Melissa’s enthusiasm for living a joy-filled life are reflected in her vibrant and heart-centered offerings of mantra and movement.

Melissa began her practice of yoga over 15 years ago and started teaching immediately after completing the 200-hour RYT program at 8 Limbs Yoga Centers in Seattle, WA. After a few years of consistent teaching and a growing love of incorporating the spiritual aspects of yoga into her practice, she completed her Bhakti teacher training through Bhakti Yoga Shala in Santa Monica, CA. Combining her love of singing and her dedication to discovering the tools to unbind the truth of the heart, Melissa found an immediate connection to chanting the names of the divine. Her asana practice is heavily influenced by her past as a dancer and her teaching style is playful, down-to-earth and inclusive. Whether teaching a physical class or leading a chant, Melissa’s fluidity, grace and joy are present in every breath.

Rob began his Bhakti Yoga journey in 2002 when he went to a Krishna Das kirtan in Los Angeles. This set him on a trajectory toward yoga and personal growth that has since been the driving force in his life and also marked the beginning of the end of his 15 year career as a filmmaker in Hollywood. The first wonderful thing that happened after this life-shift was meeting his wife Melissa.

Rob has been an avid student of Bhakti Yoga for over 10 years, and has been teaching since 2011. Some of Rob’s notable Bhakti teachers: Jai Uttal, Govindas (Bhakti Yoga Shala/LA), Amber Tande (Sutra Yoga/Seattle), Michael and Rickie Beckwith, and his pug dog Humphrey. He most recently completed Bhakti Teacher Training through Bhakti Yoga Shala in Santa Monica, CA.
