-drishti (dṛṣṭi) noun – A Sanskrit word meaning focused gaze and relates to the fifth limb of yoga, pratyāhāra, concerning sense withdrawal, as well as the sixth limb, dhāraṇā, relating to concentration.

-devotion (dəˈvōSH(ə)n) noun – 1. love, loyalty, or enthusiasm for a person, activity, or cause 2. worship or prayer

 

Where do you want to place your attention in the New Year? What song does your heart really want to sing? When we combine focus and concentration with the power of devotion, anything is possible.

Join MJ Daniels and husband and wife, Rob and Melissa, for an illuminating exploration of these two very important yogic concepts – drishti and devotion. We will embark on an all-levels yoga practice combining asana, meditation, mantra, sacred sound, kīrtan and storytelling. This workshop is designed to bring our intentions and goals (drishti) in line with our hearts deep longing to express love and compassion (bhakti/devotion).

About the instructor:

-MJ’ Daniels: has an eclectic style influenced by many teachers. She has an intuitive, gentle approach to her teaching style. Her classes focus on reaching all the layers of our being by incorporating vinyasa, yoga philosophy, pranayama, mudras, and vibrational sound through chanting and Tibetan prayer bowls. Through her gentle and warm presence, she exudes an open invitation to practitioners of all levels, creating a safe and non-judgmental environment for people to show up just as they are.

-Rob and Melissa Lundsgaard: Husband and wife, Rob and Melissa, are Bhakti yoga teachers and kirtan singers devoted to celebrating the divine through the practice of kirtan. Their heart-filled songs blend Sanskrit mantras with modern, accessible melodies and lush harmonies. Their music has been described as “heart-opening bliss,” “joyful medicine, ” and “love and devotion materialized.”
