Register now for a unique Iyengar Yoga 1 Year Evening Yoga Teacher Training. The course meets on Tuesday Evenings from 6-10 pm (with a dinner break). Those who sign up NOW can take this 6 session preparation for yoga teacher training course FREE: The course meets 6-8pm 11/4, 11/11, 11/18, 1/13, 1/20, 1/27.

For those who need to take a course purely on weekends, Richard gives a 1 year purely weekend training starting every April. For those interested in an immersion yoga teacher training, Richard offers a 4 week 200 Hour Training 4 times a year: in March, May/July, July, and September. There is also a 6 day module option where students can take one week of the training one month, and take the second, third, and forth module in a future March, June, July, of September.

This training will be given by Richard Schachtel a 30 plus year Iyengar Yoga Teacher and Founder & Director of The Center For Yoga of Seattle in Ravenna.

Iyengar Yoga is known for it’s exacting focus on alignment, its ability to make yoga accessible to a wide range of student populations (of ages, body types, physical conditions, injuries, and more); it’s development of whole body strength as well as flexibility, it’s wide range of practices from dynamic practice sessions, to restorative yoga, to yoga therapeutics, as well as for the high quality of its teachers.
BKS Iyengar is the author of many books, including “Light on Yoga”, “Light on Pranayama,” and “Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.” Richard has regularly trained directly with BKS Iyengar and Geeta Iyengar in India for over 30 years.

Some of the areas of focus of the training will include:

  1. Developing a personal yoga practice.
  2. Iyengar Yoga Teaching Methodology: The Arts of Demonstration, Instruction, Observation and Correction.
  3. Sequencing practices, classes and courses.
  4. Learning how to deal with common problems in the yoga class: helping those with back, knee, neck,& shoulder problems, hamstring injuries, and more.
  5. Anatomy for Yoga
  6. Yoga Philosophy
  7. Ethics of teaching Yoga
  8. Yoga for Women
  9. Restorative Yoga
  10. Pranayama

Richard is The Seattle Area’s Only Authorized Iyengar Yoga Teacher Trainer.
The training is for those wanting to develop and deepen their personal yoga practice, for those wanting to teach, for those currently teaching who would like to enhance their training and skills , as well as for those who are keen to learn more of highly influential Iyengar method of yoga.

Graduates will not be certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers but will be able to be Yoga Alliance 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teachers. The course is approved by Yoga Alliance.

The training is excellent preparation and training for those interested in working toward obtaining eventual certification in Iyengar Yoga.

You do not have to be an advanced practitioner to be in this training. Students can enroll in order to deepen their personal yoga practice and to learn more in-depth about this life changing practice.

Richard has made 19 yoga study trips to Poona, India to work closely with BKS and Geeta Iyengar.
