Exploring Meditation: Developing and Deepening a Transformative Practice
Nov 8, 2019| $195 – $235
Meditation is considered the Crown Jewel of Yoga. Why is this? In our weekend together we will explore this deep and transformative practice and discover how it might enhance our teaching and our lives.
Through a combination of discussion and real-life practice (jnana and vijnana), we will encounter many of the challenges that arise in meditation, and practice expanding our capacity for staying with and moving beyond them. Because meditation brings us into a direct encounter with ourselves, we will learn how to breathe through and stay present with the various aspects of ourselves that arise— physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual:
✓ How do we sit with pain?
✓ What do we do when the voices in our mind become too loud and overwhelming?
✓ How do we encounter powerful emotional climates and stay present with them without being consumed by them?
✓ How do we make meaning of the spiritual experiences that sometimes arise in meditation?
We will ask these questions and more, and discover answers that allow us to move more deeply into ourselves and nearer to the innate bliss state that yoga teaches us is at our core (anandamaya kosha).
This weekend is appropriate for anyone with a desire to learn more about meditation! Newcomers, yoga practitioners, and yoga teachers will all benefit from our time together. Come with an open mind and a curiosity to learn, and let this practice guide you toward an evermore fulfilling and authentic experience of yourself.

About the instructor: Sarah Trudeau
Sarah Trudeau began her yogic journey as a child, standing on her head, walking on her hands, and eating breakfast in the splits. She absorbed the mystical teachings of the books that surrounded her, like ‘Autobiography of a Yogi,’ and the poetry of Rumi. A gymnast and dancer growing up, she discovered yoga in her twenties, and found it a beautiful extension of her prior passions. The blending of physical movement and spiritual awareness felt like home to her, and eventually inspired her to travel to India in 2009. She spent a year crisscrossing that vibrant country, studying yoga everywhere she went. She received her teaching certification from Sivananda Yoga Vedanta in southern India, and shortly thereafter flew to Thailand, where she spent months offering free daily classes on the beach.
