Pranayama, the extension of the breath/life force and the 4th Limb of the 8 Limbs Yoga System, is a subtle yoga practice guiding us deep within by experiencing the inner workings of our breath. Known for it’s profound affects on the nervous system, it also supports the respiratory, cardiovascular, and muscular systems through it’s unique ability to manipulate Prana. Additionally, Pranayama guides us towards a more contemplative style of yoga that helps build concentration, awareness and a more engaged presence with our bodies and minds.

This introductory series will provide the fundamentals to understand and work with our breath. It includes the physiology, anatomy and Yogic Philosophy that are necessary to approach the often varied and complicated practices of Pranayama skillfully. Students will complete the series with a deep understanding of their breath body and techniques to keep exploring the practice on their own.
