You have probably heard that practicing yoga is good for you, but wonder if you are right for yoga. You might question your flexibility, strength or body type. You wonder about what to wear and what to expect when you enter a studio class.
This 7-week series is designed to take the mystery out of practicing yoga and introduce students to the fundamentals of an accessible and sustainable yoga practice that benefits every body. We will learn basic yoga postures with a focus on alignment, breathwork and mindfulness as we build strength, flexibility and body awareness in your body. Our goal is to help students feel confident and comfortable taking “Essentials” level classes at Seattle Yoga Arts and elsewhere. This is a practice for life.

About the instructors: Kathryn Bouchard
After 15 years of practicing yoga, Kathryn, RYT-500, fulfilled a lifelong desire to teach by completing her 200-hour teacher training at Seattle Yoga Arts. An avid runner, skier, paddle-boarder and sometimes-crazed mother on the run, Kathryn knows that yoga is essential to her physical and mental wellbeing. It is from a deep-rooted passion, wonder and a desire to keep delving further in her own studies that she teaches others. Kathryn’s alignment-based flow classes are taught in a playful, safe and welcoming environment, where students are encouraged to find balance as they tap into their inner wisdom and work toward their physical edge.
