Are you new to yoga, coming back to yoga, or would just like to learn more about yoga fundamentals? Then this series is for you! This is a 5 week series, one class per week, that you sign up for as a package deal. Each week builds on the previous week. This series will help to familiarize you with many of the fundamental yoga asanas (poses), pranayama (breathing practices), and concepts that you will encounter in a typical yoga class. By the end of the series, you should feel comfortable coming to any of our Yoga Fundamentals, Slow Flow, Gentle Chair, Yin, Restorative, and Unwind yoga classes. After a month or so of attending those classes regularly, you might feel comfortable incorporating some Hatha or Essential Flow classes into your repertoire as well. Just take it at your own pace. Feel free to take this course as many times as you like in the future if you would like a refresher.

Date and Time: Sept 24 – Oct 29 Sundays, 1:00-2:30 PM (except Oct 15)
Cost: $180

About the instructor: Kate Collins

Ashley-Wainscott (3)Kate has practiced yoga for over thirty years. When she wandered into a Brooklyn loft for her first class, she was immediately hooked. As a former dancer she has always loved movement, and the discipline and flowing sequences were familiar and inviting.

As Kate began to practice regularly, she noticed something more. The movement, breathwork, and community were bringing her mind into the present, into focus, and into tranquility. Experiencing yoga as a pathway to peace led her to become a teacher in 2010.

Kate draws on her extensive background in Iyengar and Ashtanga traditions to create classes that are active and fun, with clear instruction and meaningful sequencing. Her approach to teaching is friendly and balanced, and she enjoys cultivating self-awareness in her students. She welcomes all practitioners of all levels.

Kate also loves being a mom, hiking, reading, taking photos and precious time with family and friends. She has lived in New York, Paris, Maine, Los Angeles and Washington DC before landing in Seattle in 2015.
