We’ve shortened our award-winning Intro Series to four weeks to invite you online for a Livestream Introduction to Yoga!

The Intro to Yoga Series is a great place to start your practice. At 8 Limbs we select our most senior and experienced instructors to provide what can be the introduction to a lifelong practice. Rest assured that your instructor will be welcoming, accommodating, and foster a non-competitive and safe atmosphere in class. These six-week sessions are designed for anyone new to hatha yoga or continuing students interested in reconnecting to the fundamentals of a physical yoga practice, including basic yoga postures and breathing practices.

Make-Up Policy: You may make up one class per session up to two weeks after the end of your series.

West Seattle:

Note: Our series require a minimum of five registered participants, by five days before the start date; if you are considering joining please register early.

Cost for 6-week series: $125

Cancellation Policy: Refunds of 90% up to five days prior to the start of the series. No refunds allowable after that time.

Claudette Evans

 

What to expect in Claudette’s classes: Claudette has a genuine passion for meeting students where they are, helping guide them toward an experience of greater strength and freedom, while allowing them to discover the wisdom that lies within their own bodies. You’ll find Claudette’s classes infused with her warm, integrative, and creative spirit, along with explorations in mantra and vibration. Her enthusiasm and curiosity are catching, and it’s clear that her teaching draws on her own love of physicality and mental engagement. Through a deft weaving of precise alignment, thoughtful insight, and a great sense of humor, Claudette’s classes create space for self-expression, clarity of focus, and the sheer joy of movement.
Main Influences/Styles/Traditions: Anusara, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Sanskrit. She also has been strongly influenced by Douglas Brooks, Christopher Hareesh Wallis, Christina Sell, Sianna Sherman, Amy Ippoliti, Ross Rayburn, Jason Crandell, and Meghan Currie.

 

Nancy Burtenshaw Yoga Teacher Seattle

What to expect in Nancy’s class: Nancy creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere and delivers a steady, grounded practice that is encouraging, supportive and challenging. She has an eye for detail and alignment and provides instructions that are stair-stepped and inspired so that before you know it you’ll be pushing your growth edge and doing something you never thought was possible.
Main Influences/ Styles/ Traditions: Over the years Nancy has completed numerous immersions and teacher trainings and has been blessed to have trained with highly skilled and insightful teachers including Baron Baptiste, Tiffany Wood, Christina Sell, Darren Rhodes, Jason Crandell and Noah Maze. Currently pursuing certification through the Anusara® School of Hatha Yoga lineage. Nancy has also pursued specialized training in Prenatal, Restorative Yoga and recently in iRest Yoga Nidra.

 

 

Karen Gamble Yoga Teacher

What to expect in Karen’s class: A mix of mindfulness, pranayama and love, love, love. Karen teaches the Intro Series at Phinney Ridge where she provides enough information and self-compassion to motivate students into yoga studios everywhere. She also teaches inspired vinyasa flow and mindful yin classes.
Main Influences/Styles/Traditions: Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Mohammad Ali, Nelson Mandela, Vipassana, Vinyasa, Yin.

 

 

 

 

Alex Baker

What to expect in ­­­Alex’s classes: Alex creates a supportive and encouraging environment in each and every one of her classes. Her students learn how to move their body with greater awareness, cultivating stability while increasing strength and flexibility. In addition to the physical (asana) practice Alex teaches her students how to connect deeper to their breath through pranayamas (breathing techniques) and visualizations, promoting a relaxed mind while decreasing stress.  During her classes she enjoys weaving together insights from the Yoga Sutras as well as information from the science of Ayurvedic Medicine. Alex has found that these ancient teachings are means to help practitioners function optimally and holistically within the seasonal cycles.
