Live Love Flow teacher training offers something that most teacher trainings don’t: a commitment to help you actually teach! Many trainings offer the 200 hour Certification then throw their trainees to the wolves. It can be incredibly hard to get teaching jobs without experience: Live Love Flow is committed to helping our trainees get experience.

  • We finish the Teacher Training with “Evolution Flow” a real studio class on Saturday afternoons that we invite our newly minted teachers to lead.
  • The trainees who are “ready” are on the sub list and many of them are teaching.
  • Four of our newly minted teachers have their own classes already.

I’m incredibly proud of this aspect of our training and the support that we give our trainees as I know how competitive the teaching market is and this is really a unique and special commitment we make to our trainees at  Live Love Flow.

This yoga teacher training, led by Jaime Scates Schmitz, is accredited with the yoga alliance and is structured into 4 parts.

1. Weekend I – Philosophy (March 5-8, 2015)
  • Thursday-Saturday: 9:30am-5:30pm
  • Sunday: 11:30am-3:30pm

In our first weekend together, we will explore the history and tradition of yoga while we experience the more mindful side of yoga with meditation techniques, grounding techniques, pranayama and learning to share energetically. We will look at the 8 limbs of yoga and discuss how we can incorporate them into our daily lives in order to live a more aligned, integrated and yogic lifestyle. (We will likely be joined by Jaime’s beloved meditation teacher, Sandra Storwick, for one afternoon).

Required reading:

  • Mindful Yoga Mindful Life – Charlotte Bell
  • The Bhagavad Gita – translation by Eknath Easwaran
  • Choose one or enjoy both on alignment based eating:
  • Quantum Wellness by Kathy Freston and/or
  • Forever Beautiful by Natalia Rose
2. Weekend II – Anatomy: the physical + energetic bodies (April 2-6, 2015)
  • Thursday-Saturday: 9:30am-5:30pm
  • Sunday: 11:30am-3:30pm

In this weekend together we will learn about injury prevention and safe alignment as we study each other in poses, break down yoga anatomy and learn exactly how experienced teachers study bodies from the ground up and by assessing pelvis/hip and shoulder alignment. (We will likely be joined by an anatomy specialist, a massage therapist or chiropractor, for one afternoon).

We will also study the energetic body as we look at the chakra system and the koshas. We will discuss how the physical and energetic bodies integrate and how poses support the free flow of energy.

You will also be introduced to your personal project, your Kurukshetra (the name of the battlefield in The Bhagavad Gita) that you will have until June to create.

Required reading:

  • Creating on Purpose – Anoeda Judith
  • Yoga Anatomy 2nd Addition – Leslie Kaminoff
  • The Key Poses of Yoga – Ray Long

3. Week III – Sayulita Mexico – Methodology + Techniques (May 2-9, 2015)
  • Saturday to Saturday all day (with time for fun, surfing and breaks too)

As we our get-away from the distractions of our real lives and non-yogi friend and influeces, this is an amazing opportunity to really dive into our study, immerse in our practices, retreat from our habits and patterns and to live the fresh and new ideas being presented. All the while, we wil delve deeply into the study of the teaching and methodology of vinyasa yoga.

We will learn how to create a great vinyasa class in alignment with Live Love Flow’s standards. We will discuss the key elements of a great class, how to build the arc of a class, how to incorporate, music into classes, how to tie in themes or readings etc… and we will memorize a set sequence to keep in our back pockets for when we need guidance and help.

In Mexico we will have tons of thoughtful and integrated time to practice teaching, assisting, adjusting and assessing each other’s practices and teaching. We will grow and learn tremendously with this intensive time together. We will come home fully prepared to teach a studio class.

Please note that the cost of your travel and accommodations are not included in the teacher training. Jaime has a long list of places to stay in Sayulita that range from luxury suites to simple but lovely one bedroom apartments (that accommodate 2 people in their own beds) and darling hotel rooms for as low as $55/night. The food is delicious and cheap, juice bars abound and the surfing is epic. We’ll manage some time for fun amidst our amazingly hard work. Fly on miles, eat and sleep for cheap and enjoy this incredibly budget friendly endeavor.

4. Weekend IV – Putting it all together (June 4-7, 2015)
  • Thursday-Saturday: 9:30am-5:30pm

In our final weekend together, we will each have time to present our personal project. We will have to review the course, fine tune our teaching and re-visit anything that has come up and needs re-visiting.

  • Each trainee will assist/observe a minimum of 3 Live Love Flow classes.
  • Each trainee will coordinate teaching a full length class to his/her friends, peers, other trainees etc… 3 times.
