[Live Streamed] Essential Movement Series, Part 2 with Beth Award
May 2| $120
ONLINE, 6-WEEK CONTINUING EDUCATION SERIES with Beth Award
The Essential Movement Series is for you if:
You’ve taken an Intro to Yoga Series and you’re wondering what’s next.
You’re a lifelong “mover” (yoga practitioner, biker, hiker, runner, etc.) and want to explore ways to improve your range of motion, strength, or flexibility.
You’ve discovered that your balance, getting up and down from the floor or out of a chair, or sitting cross legged is more of a challenge than it used to be.
Join Beth if you want to move in a welcoming space where there’s room for mindful practice, cultivating a sense of play, and just the right amount of challenge (scale it up or down!).
Each Essential Movement Series offers a combination of practices and movement modalities to help you live and move well at any age – and create new patterns for your body and mind. Classes include movements for healthy joints, functional strength, and myofascial (connective tissue) release, along with basic yoga postures and other shapes that just feel good.
What to expect:
You’ll learn simple mindfulness skills and techniques to calm your nervous system and manage stress
You’ll improve joint mobility and control
You’ll learn how to use simple props to cultivate strength, flexibility, mobility, or assist in deep tissue release
You’ll cultivate strength and stamina for life: on the mat, field, trail, in the gym, office, or anywhere, really!
You’ll be encouraged to practice at a manageable pace—your own!
You’ll receive emails with suggestions and support
Are you interested in the series but the time doesn’t work for you? Class recordings will be made available to those who cannot attend live classes.
For attendance at this series please have some previous movement experience and no major injuries.
Plan to practice on an empty-ish stomach and an open mind. This livestream series class size will be kept to a maximum of 25 students.
Here are props/substitutes you will need to have in order to fully enjoy this series:

A series allows your teacher to teach progressively and to tailor the class, theme or goal as they get to know each individual over time. Staying with one group for several weeks also builds commitment, community, and understanding for both the student and the teacher. Research shows that we learn better, feel discomfort less, and are more optimistic when we feel included in community. Our series classes build that kind of inclusion.
Please plan carefully: Refunds of 90% are granted up to 5 days prior to the series start; after which, no refunds are given.
About the instructor: Beth Award
In 1991, Beth took two summer classes: DOS Programming and Yoga. The computer information didn’t stick, but yoga captured her attention from the very first class: she felt taller and quieter (miraculous!). Since 1994, Beth has been a student at Seattle Yoga Arts, and how she evolved to wear a leotard to work is still a bit of a joyful mystery to her. Inspired by Denise and her own “unfolding”, Beth left her corporate job to teach yoga in 2003. She achieved Anusara-Inspired licensing in 2007 and is an E-RYT 200 Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance. Beth offers a warm and compassionate instruction style that stems from her love and enthusiasm for the practice. She continues to be inspired, pulled, and prodded by life in all sorts of directions.
