Death Meditation:

Death meditation practices have existed for thousands of years in Tibet. Now, their potency and wisdom are gaining appreciation as Western cultures reconsider the meaning of death. Some hospice nurses have shared with us that those with unfinished emotional issues suffer more during passing than those who consciously face and heal old traumas, disappointments, and wounds. By reorienting to death we may find lost meanings of life and cogent ways of perceiving life-changing events.

During this meditation, Angel will guide participants through a gentle imagining of the natural dying process, offer questions for reflection, and give time for silent reflection.Through examining any unfinished business that arises, we gain immediate access to a more peaceful state of mind.

Love And Death:

Yoga retreat- Guru Gayatri- Love And Death

Jordana Jacobs will lead us in an exploration of the two of the great vehicles of meaning in life: love and death. First, Dr. Jacobs will speak about death from a psychological perspective, with a focus on how our Western, unconscious denial of impermanence impedes upon our ability to love fully. We will confront the promise of our inevitable death, and the role it plays in our lives, our expression, our relationships, and our journey. She will dive into her research about why acknowledging death and the impermanence of all things, rather than avoiding this inevitable fact out of fear, has the potential to enhance our love relationships and help us love more fully.

Human Connection:

Yoga retreat- Guru Gayatri- Human Connections

Over the past twenty years Michael Hebb has gathered thousands of people at small tables to discuss the many topics we avoid. What he learned is that the more “taboo” the topic, the higher the potential for people to connect with each other authentically.

Kundalini Rebirthing:

Yoga retreat- Guru Gayatri- Kundalini Rebirthing

Kundalini Re-birthing is considered some of the most transformative technology that Yogi Bhajan offered to the West over his 35 years of teaching. Our goal will be to eliminate the “childhood stories which continue to haunt us”. These Rebirthing Kriyas are special in the Kundalini world for their transformational and cleansing qualities.  Re-birthing is a tremendous opportunity to unload, let go, and rewrite your destiny……. And align yourself with the new frequencies of love, compassion, and fearlessness.

Harvest Together:

Yoga retreat- Guru Gayatri- Harvest Together

The Duchess is home to a thriving biodynamic vegetable farm. We will venture out in the fields with farmer philosopher Zach Wolf to harvest the food for our dinner and spend a little time in the kitchen cooking together before one of our communal feasts.

Dr. Jordana Jacobs

Dr. Jordana Jacobs is a psychologist in private practice in New York City. Her approach is insight-oriented and integrative, combining psychodynamic and existential therapy into her treatment of patients. Dr. Jacobs’ training at Memorial Sloan Kettering working with terminally ill cancer patients, her studies in Northern India, and her Vipassana meditation practice inspired her research on the complex relationship between death awareness and love. Her dissertation, entitled “Till Death do us Part: The Effect of Mortality Salience on Satisfaction in Long-term Romantic Relationships” specifically explored the ways in which priming for death has the potential to increase intimacy in partnerships. In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Jacobs now gives talks and leads meditations aimed towards helping people accept inevitable mortality, so that they are able to live and love more fully.
