Community Yoga is a donation based class, all levels, expressive yoga course. The intent is to have fun while learning about your body; grow in strength of mind and body, and establish a greater sense of community in this time of isolation. It will be student led, meaning that it will depend on the preferences of the students and subject to change.
The Karma Love Pass is a complimentary option available for community members who want to join this practice, but may not have the means to do so at this time. For those able to donate, we ask that you contribute $5, $10, $20, $25 or $50.All donations for this class are allocated to the Karma Love Fund. This special account is reserved for students who are in need. We use these funds to help pay for group classes or medical massages. At Maya, we believe that Karma is not just the process of action and reaction, but an opportunity to share what is most human about us: generosity.
We will all need the support of others some day.
Today someone needs yours.

About the instructor: Hillary Rose

“It’s not about what it is, it’s about what it can become.”  -Dr. Seuss

Hillary discovered her practice as a part of her personal self-discovery.  As a health-conscious, socially conscious person, yoga and yoga philosophy resonated with her as she emerged from her prescribed path into self-exploration and growth.  She has practiced a variety of yogic traditions across five countries, finally receiving her 200hr RYT in Ashtanga yoga from Nepal Yoga Academy in 2016.

Since her move to Seattle, she has taught classes for toddlers, grade school children, active adults, and mature students.  Having taught in public schools, she is invested in continued education and class-related research.  While she has a strong Vinyasa practice, she loves to explore and teach other yogic styles.  Foremost, her practice focuses on meeting the diverse needs of her students; igniting their passion for a personal practice; and fostering a supportive, fun learning environment.

Outside of yoga, Hillary appreciates the healing power of meditation and has practiced varieties from walking to dancing to the creation of mandalas.  She sees gardening and exploring the beauty of the Pacific Northwest as meditative activities.  Nature, being her passion and her philosophy, led her to pursue her Masters of Environmental Policy, which she achieved in 2018.  She also enjoys creative outlets, such as vegetarian cooking, writing, painting, and capturing the beauty around her on her Nikon camera.
