Online Teacher Tune-Up (Part 2 Of 2)
with Claudette Evans, Ellie Rose, Douglas Brooks, & Chiara Guerrieri

This Spring we invite you to join Claudette Evans, Ellie Rose, Douglas Brooks, and Chiara Guerrieri for an online advanced yoga teacher tune-up that will invigorate your practice, inspire your heart and mind, and refine your yoga teaching skills. This comprehensive training will introduce those new to Seattle Yoga Arts to our teaching approach, and help all those looking to revitalize their teaching to enhance and enliven the most essential teaching skills.

This 40-hour program will be offered in two 20-hour modules over the course of two weekends (March and May). Part 1 is required to enroll in Part 2. It is part of SYA’s 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training program, and may also be used toward Continuing Education credit hours through Yoga Alliance.

Each weekend will include an exploration of asana, meditation, fundamental teaching methods, working with a theme, yoga philosophy, Sanskrit for yoga, anatomy, and teaching practicums for you to explore and practice your new skills.

Our Foundations Program serves as a gateway to our 300-hour training, and we highly encourage folks who are just joining our 300-hour program to take these two modules first. However, enrollment in our program is ongoing, and you do have the option to take part in our training modules as your schedule allows. We will offer this program annually during the first half of each year. Beginning in 2021, completion of this program is a requirement for 300-hour certification through Seattle Yoga Arts and must be completed during the course of enrollment in the training.

While we hope you’ll attend these weekends live and in real time in order to connect with your fellow teachers within the community, you will also have access to the recordings from our live sessions, which can be reviewed for up to 30 days following each module. You must be enrolled in the training to receive access to the recordings.

To be clear, this is not an introductory teacher training, but rather an offering for experienced teachers who want to expand their knowledge, deepen their practice, and refine their skills to better serve their community. At a minimum, enrollees must have successfully completed a previous 200-hour YTT program.

Sunday, May 16, 8:00-11:30 am & 12:15-4:15 pm

20.0 (5.0 of which will be Practicum)

Tuition:
General Public = $400 early bird (through May 7) // $500 full price
300-hour YTTs* = $430 early bird (through May 7) // $530 full price

*300hr YTT Enrollees: Note your private Opening & Closing Circles (+1.5 hours) will be scheduled in addition to the course hours listed above. They are:
Opening Circle: Friday, May 14, 1:15-2:00 pm
Closing Circle: Sunday, May 16, 4:15-5:00 pm

You must pre-register at least 45 minutes in advance of the course start.
Registered participants will be emailed a Zoom link and password ~30 minutes prior to the event start.

Please plan carefully: Refunds of 90% are granted up to 5 days prior to the series start; after which, no refunds are given.

Claudette Evans

Claudette, E-RYT 500, has been a student of yoga for more than 20 years and a teacher for over a decade. Claudette has a genuine passion for meeting students where they are, helping guide them toward an experience of greater strength and freedom, while allowing them to discover the wisdom that already lies within. She continues to expand her knowledge of yoga through the study of the Sanskrit language, and shares its beauty with curious and devoted students who wish to deepen their practice. You’ll find Claudette’s classes infused with her warm, integrative, and creative spirit. Her enthusiasm and curiosity are catching, and it’s clear that her teaching draws on her own love of physicality, and mental engagement. Through a deft weaving of precise alignment, thoughtful insight, and a great sense of humor, her classes create space for self-expression, clarity of focus, and the sheer joy of being embodied.

 

 

Ellen Boyle Yoga SeattleEllen, MFA, E-RYT 500 has been delving into the practices and teachings of yoga for over 30 years. A professional teaching-artist she is currently an Associate Professor at Cornish College of the Arts where she teaches Physical Technique in the theater department and yoga to all departments. She is also a founding member of Operating Theater Company which opens its rehearsals and process to the student actors at Cornish integrating professional practices into the academic setting. She has been blessed on her yogic journey to study with many wonderful teachers including Gary Kraftsow, Robin Rothenberg, Kathleen Hunt, Denise Benetiz, Sonya Nelson and Martin Kirk. In 2015, to deepen her understanding of the sister sciences of yoga, she completed a 500 hour Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor Certification with Kerala Ayurveda Academy and is available for yoga therapy and private wellness counseling using the tools of Ayurveda. Ellen integrates the practice of mindfulness into her classes to calm the mind and allow a deep and direct experience of the present moment. With a deep bow of gratitude for the many gifts yoga continues to bring to her experience of life, Ellen offers her teaching from a place of compassion and playfulness desiring that all beings everywhere be happy and free. Douglas Brooks

 

Dr. Douglas Brooks is a scholar of Hinduism, south Asian languages, and the comparative study of religions. He lived in India with his teacher, Dr. Gopala Aiyar Sundaramoorthy, for many years studying and practicing Srividya, Auspicious Wisdom, and the modern traditions of goddess-centered Tantra. Currently Professor of Religion at the University of Rochester, he holds both Masters and his doctoral degrees from Harvard University.

 

 

 

Chiara Guerrieri Yoga Teacher Seattle

What to expect in ­­­Chiara’s Classes: Chiara teaches us how to connect with the body through the breath, how to track physical sensation moment to moment and how to find an internal sense that guides movement and choices for wellbeing. In both her SoulMat & Hatha yoga classes, expect to go slowly, to pay attention to your body and breath, and to explore alignment. An important aspect of Chiara’s teaching is to help students learn when – and from where – to stabilize or mobilize. Expect the wisdom of a 30-year teaching career, plus a good dose of humor, to infuse each class.
