This two-part series will provide an introduction to yoga for anyone who is new to yoga. Whether this is your very first class or you’ve dabbled a bit here and there, this is a safe space to learn more, ask questions, and dip your toes in.

An intro series isn’t required to start practicing in group classes. In fact, we encourage you to jump right in to practicing! We’ve also know that people learn in all different ways, and this will support you as you start practicing asana, whether it’s in live classes or recorded sessions.

The focus of this series will be on common sequences and poses in vinyasa yoga, which is an active practice that moves in coordination with your breath. There are modifications for all bodies and abilities, because the core of  this practice is breath and attention, not making certain shapes with your body.

Is this for me?
YES! We welcome all bodies, races, ages, genders, identities, and experience levels. Yoga is for everyone, and it’s never too late to start.
If you’ve taken 0 to a few vinyasa yoga classes, then this is for you.

Can I buy this for a friend?
Yes! You can buy a gift card for a friend and have it emailed to them. We can’t make them use it on this series, but you can let them know what the amount is intended for. See instructions at www.beluminousyoga.com/text-a-friend.

About the instructor: Susan Hawkins

Susan HawkinsSusan fell in love with yoga in the late 1990’s, first through Ashtanga and then later through pre-natal classes. In 2004, she found her home on the mat with Baptiste Yoga. in 2006, she left her 17 year career as an outdoor educator and elementary teacher to care for her young daughters, and yoga became even more of a foundation in her life. She found that yoga brought her focus, allowed centering, built strength and helped her find peace from everyday mental chatter. Over the years, she deepened her asana practice, and sought to go deeper in her yoga knowledge and experience. Susan completed Baptiste Level One training in June 2015. The experience was life-changing, and she became awake to the power and possibility that comes from living open-hearted, with authenticity and in connection to others. After Level One, her desire to live yoga off as well as on the mat expanded. She completed her 200 hour Teacher Training through Be Luminous in May 2016 . Susan is thrilled to be able to share her love of yoga with others, helping her students make the connection to their own breath, bodies, and the present moment, awake to the knowledge that like life, yoga is an ever-changing and evolving practice. Susan is also a certified Next Generation Yoga teacher, and teaches elementary kids yoga in after school programs. When not on her mat, Susan loves reading, spending time with her husband and two daughters, and exploring the outdoors by hiking, skiing and kayaking around the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
