What is Yoga Nidra? Yoga Nidra is a somatic based meditation practice that can take place resting on one’s back, sitting in a chair, or even through slow paced movement. Rooted in the Vedas, it has been practiced throughout the world for over 1,000 years. Current research has found that a regular practice of Yoga Nidra can effectively support things like resiliency, creativity; pain management; emotional wellness, and even accessing better sleep.

Through gentle, safe, and time-tested practices, it supports the individual in accessing profound layers of relaxation and awareness that can effectively get underneath unproductive belief patterns and help to uproot them. It is this aspect of the practice that often draws therapists and healers of different modalities to learn more about it and incorporate tools into their own approaches when working with clients.

I find that having continuity in a series format and in a safe and supportive community can really help in establishing a regular practice needed to truly experience life changing benefits of Yoga Nidra. The first 15 – 20 minutes of each meeting will be devoted to checking in with students and exploring some theory and science around practice. The last hour will be devoted to gentle yoga to help students unwind from their day, followed by yoga nidra.
