The intention of this program is to encourage a deepening of our meditation practice and, within the refuge of sangha (spiritual community), to share insights and support for living with wisdom and compassion. Dharma Wisdom Seattle’s Sangha continues this summer with weekly online led meditation and an exploration of Welcoming the Unwelcome by Pema Chodron. Each Friday over 12-weeks we’ll read and discuss how our practice can strengthen and promote our well-being during challenges – a very timely topic! Appropriate for beginner and experienced meditators, join Rebecca and our sangha community for insight and support.
In her first new book of spiritual teachings in over seven years, Pema Chödrön offers a combination of wisdom, heartfelt reflections, and the signature mix of humor and insight that have made her a beloved figure to turn to during times of change. In an increasingly polarized world, Pema shows us how to strengthen our abilities to find common ground, even when we disagree, and influence our environment in positive ways. Sharing never before told personal stories from her remarkable life, simple and powerful everyday practices, and directly relatable advice, Pema encourages us all to become triumphant bodhisattvas – compassionate beings – in times of hardship.

A series allows your teacher to teach progressively and to tailor the class, theme or goal as they get to know each individual over time. Staying with one group for several weeks also builds commitment, community, and understanding for both the student and the teacher. Research shows that we learn better, feel discomfort less, and are more optimistic when we feel included in community. Our series classes build that kind of inclusion.
Please plan carefully: Refunds of 90% are granted up to 5 days prior to the series start; after which, no refunds are given.
About the instructor: Rebecca Denk
Rebecca, RYT 200, has been a dedicated yoga student for over two decades and began teaching yoga in her Central District neighborhood in 2007. She offers weekly classes at Seattle Yoga Arts and Studio Arcadia in the CD. When not teaching, she often can be found behind her desk as Director of Finance & HR at KEXP 90.3 FM. Rebecca primarily trained in Anusara Yoga with Denise Benitez and Elizabeth Rainey, and in Prenatal Yoga with Jessica Jennings. Her classes are characterized by warmth, humor, and a focus on physical alignment. Rebecca’s study of Buddhist meditation and appreciation for each student’s unique path greatly inform her teaching.
