You are invited to join your Luminous Community for a 10-day guided Ayurvedic cleanse. In Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga, cleansing is recommended to do in the spring and fall seasons. This form of cleansing is nourishing – not depleting –  and brings lightness to the mind, physical body, and spirit.

Why Cleanse?
Our bodies naturally want to cleanse and detoxify during the spring season. Cleansing helps to let go of the heaviness and stagnation accumulated during the winter season. Specifically, cleansing at the time of the Spring Equinox (March 20th this year) is profoundly supported by nature – a natural time of renewal and rebirth. The benefits of cleansing include renewed energy, optimal digestion, deeper sleep, happier mood and better focus. Cleansing also helps us to reset and prioritize our health and well-being on every level – physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

What is an Ayurvedic Cleanse?
Often people associate cleansing with deprivation, fasting, calorie counting or liquid diets. Cleansing in this way can deplete energy, as well as create feelings of irritability. Cleansing doesn’t have to be hard and joyless. This spring, you can explore Ayurveda’s way of cleansing, which is deeply nourishing and satisfying, as well as detoxifying. You might know that Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga. Ayurvedic philosophy focuses on the Three Pillars of Life: Food, Sleep and Right Use of Energy. We will discuss these more during the cleanse, but essentially, creating balance in these three areas restores health, brings joy and creates a deep sense of well-being.

An Ayurvedic cleanse focuses on eating whole, plant-based foods three meals per day. Eating in this way actually simplifies life – it doesn’t complicate it. During the cleanse, you will be asked to prepare your own food. If this causes stress, please pause. The recipes are quite simple and easy to prepare. Plus, you will be cleansing with the support of a group and a facilitator. With that said, it is essential that you are able to set aside some time each day to prepare your meals. During the cleanse, we are not eating take-out, deli foods, or frozen foods, etc.
