Shari Friedrichsen returns to 8 Limbs to help guide us through the coming year with her timeless wisdom and depth of practice. Each topic was chosen to support us as we move through the changes this year (and every year!) will bring.
Shari is an internationally recognized teacher, with almost 50 years of teaching experience. She is a senior faculty member at The Himalayan Institute and a student of Pandit Rajmani Tigunait. Shari is the teacher of Anne Phyfe Palmer, Founder of 8 Limbs Yoga Centers.
Each of these practices will be about half lecture/presentation, half practice. All levels of practice are welcome.
Yoga to Uplift the Heart
Sunday, January 31, 10:00am-1:00pm PST
Yoga teaches us how to unburden the heart in difficult times and retain its inner guiding light. It takes courage and determination to reclaim our abiding connection to the heart and be willing to see our sorrows and grief and know still that the heart is our eternal guide. We will use specific asana, pranayama, relaxation and meditation techniques to clear the mind and uplift the heart, restoring it to its natural grace and beauty. The world will be changed by our willingness and courage to uplift our hearts.
Yoga to Restore Joy
Sunday, March 14, 10:00am-1:00pm PST
Our bodies are formed with inherent subtle streams of joy and light. Through life’s circumstances, we might have forgotten about this foundation of innate luminosity and intrinsic joy, and instead find ourselves getting lost in the shadow of our own negative thoughts, habits, and beliefs, or we may have absorbed the disturbance of the storms that swirl around us. During this extended class we will practice yoga asanas, pranayama, relaxation and meditation to reclaim our radiance and lead ourselves out of our acquired darkness to an inner and abiding sense of peace and joy.
Yoga Practices for Strength and Rejuvenation
Sunday, May 2, 10:00am-1:00pm PST
It takes courage and faith to turn inward when the world so relentlessly beckons us with fear and disruption. Seated in each of us is an eternal well of peace and stillness, strength and truth. Practice and contemplation guide us to that inner sanctuary. Specific yoga practices help us to overcome our inertia, awaken us to our own depth of strength and power of rejuvenation, and guide us through difficult or peaceful times. We can then gather and increase our strength and vitality, enabling us to navigate and love this new world that is presenting itself.
Cost per class: $75 through the Friday before each workshop, $85 after
