About this Workshop Series

Spira and Young Adult Yoga (YAY) will offer a 5 week series of workshops. YAY’s mission is to teach the everyday practice of the Eight Limbs of Yoga to inspire healthy habits, resiliency, and kindness in young adults. Each workshop will include physical practice, a fun 8 Limbs focused activity, as well as, time for reflection, breathwork, and meditation. All abilities are welcome!
Week 1: Intro to Yoga
Week 2: The Yamas (Social Responsibilities)
Week 3: The Niyamas (Self-compassion and care)
Week 4: Breath/Meditation/Focus
Week 5: Oneness/Trusting your inner-self/Last Day Ceremony and Reflection

 Great physical workout based in building core strength and mobility
Promotes healthy eating and lifestyle habits
Nurtures self -acceptance, and ability to develop meaningful relationships

Practices regulating thoughts and feelings in a productive way
Teaches how to calm the mind, ease anxiety, and improve focus

Neuropsychiatrists know that resiliency and kindness are developed and strengthened in the ability of the child’s brain to practice reflection of thoughts and feelings and engage in compassionate relationships.

About the instructors: Kristen Tollini & Cait Herman

Kristen Tollini

 

 

Kristen Tollini, Founder of Young Adult Yoga, LLC and Registered Yoga Teacher at Spira, is excited to merge her more recent love of Yoga with her 25 years of experience as a licensed mental health therapist and health advocate. Kristen has served as a child behavioral consultant, a community outreach child and family therapist, clinical supervisor of a therapeutic afterschool program at Johns Hopkins Hospital and is currently active in the field of health advocacy. Her passion is teaching younger members of our community the skills to care for their physical and mental health.

 

 

Cait Herman

 

 

Cait Herman, Lead Teacher at Young Adult Yoga and Registered Yoga Teacher at Spira, is looking forward to sharing her 20 years of Yoga practice with the children and young adults of this community. Cait has experience teaching in the preschool setting, as well as, coaching youth gymnastics. Cait dedicated a good part of her life training as a gymnast and knows the importance of nutrition and psychology in sports and in life. Since the start of her yoga teacher journey, she knew her passion resonated with bringing Yoga, Mindfulness, and Meditation to young yogis.
