Calling forward the qualities of love, goodness, and kindness, this simple meditation practice opens the heart to oneself, others, and the world. Uncertain times such as these, can evoke emotions of anxiety, fear, grief, and even anger. Yet, Loving Kindness meditation offers us comfort and a greater sense of balance, as we cultivate the innate sense of compassion that resides in our hearts.

The practice of Loving Kindness, also called Metta, was originally offered by the Buddha as a way to work with fear and worry, as it calls forward the natural capacity of our hearts for kindness, care, connection, and compassion. This time honored practice is a resource for self-care and nourishment as we offer wishes of well-being to others.

During our 4-weeks together we will:
explore finding the goodness in ourselves and in others;
use phrases of care to offer our blessings of safety, happiness, health and peace;
examine our interconnection with all beings as we touch into the innate capacity of care in our own hearts.

If you are looking for a greater sense of balance in your life, a resource for your anxiety, and a way to connect to your deep sense of concern for others, please join Maria for this 4-week series. There is no meditation experience necessary, as she will offer the teachings and guidance in all aspects of this practice. You will have time for connecting with others within this community, as our process allows for asking questions and sharing our experiences. This entire series will take place online, live only.

About the instructor: Maria Bliss

Maria Bliss

Maria’s journey to yoga began as a child when she entered the world of movement as a dancer. As she grew and moved through this world as a dance teacher, professional dancer, fitness instructor and mother, yoga offered Maria spiritual solitude, peace and an opportunity to nurture herself. All of Maria’s passions came together with Power Vinyasa Yoga; a blending of strength and flexibility, a graceful flow of dance and an element of spirituality all beautifully integrated in this dynamic style of yoga. Maria has completed Level 1 teacher training with Baron Baptiste, two teacher training courses with Lisa Black and a full year in the Teaching Assistant Program (TAP) at Shakti. She completed Level 1 Iyengar teacher training with Aadil Palkivala and has studied intensely with Anna Forrest, Shiva Rae and Seane Corn. Maria strives to create a light-hearted, supportive environment for others who want to practice an integrated style of yoga. She believes that every person possesses the heart of a teacher and a student. She thrives on incorporating the blessings of both in her life.
