Have you ever had a pregnant or postnatal student in class and wondered how to keep them safe? As a yoga teacher, you will at some point have one of these students in your class who will expect you to be able to give them modifications. If you are ready to develop more confidence in doing so, this workshop is for you.

During and after pregnancy, women go through major shifts both anatomically and physiologically. Yoga can be highly beneficial for pre- and postnatal women—when taught and practiced correctly. This workshop will educate you on how to keep these students safe and healthy at all stages of their pregnancy as well as after giving birth. We’ll explore the anatomy and physiology of the pre-and postnatal body, which poses to modify and how, and specific poses that best support these students.

You will learn how to help students prepare for labor and giving birth physically and mentally, including pranayama practices for pregnancy. You’ll discover tools you can share with moms who have a newborn at home. Finally, we’ll discuss how to use language that makes your students feel included and welcome in your classroom.

You will have the chance to ask questions, move with a sample pregnant belly, practice manual assists, and sequence a prenatal class. This workshop will include discussion, lecture, physical practice, and group work.
