This workshop will be offered remotely!

Join Chiara for an extended exploration with the Somat – a specially designed self-care tool that promotes alignment and relieves deeply held stress as the spine decompresses, thinking slows, and your nervous system settles down.

The Somat offers support and feedback for your back and relieves tension. The practice features slow, organic sequences that focus on the spine and the rhythm of the breath, settling parasympathetic responses, and easing stress. Once in sync on the Somat, you’ll land in a sensory experience that strays from the physical into the psychological and emotional. In this state, you’ll reset the regenerative mechanisms of your nervous system, become attuned to your body’s messages, and experience less stress all around.

Open to all levels, this workshop is a good choice for practitioners looking to slow down their practice, and find more ease in their back, neck, shoulders, and hips, and move into a peaceful meditative state. All physical abilities are welcome.

Students are invited to bring their own Somat (available for purchase at 8 Limbs – Phinney Ridge) or use one provided by the instructor. Please bring a yoga mat.

About the instructor: Chiara Guerrieri

Chiara Guerrieri Yoga Teacher Seattle

What to expect in Chiara’s Classes: Chiara teaches us how to connect with the body through the breath, how to track physical sensation moment to moment and how to find an internal sense that guides movement and choices for wellbeing. In both her SoulMat & Hatha yoga classes, expect to go slowly, to pay attention to your body and breath, and to explore alignment. An important aspect of Chiara’s teaching is to help students learn when – and from where – to stabilize or mobilize. Expect the wisdom of a 30-year teaching career, plus a good dose of humor, to infuse each class.
Main Influences/Styles/Traditions: SoulMat with Patrizia Gavoni, Hatha Yoga with Bob Smith, Forrest Yoga with Ana Forrest, Shari Fredrickson, ParaYoga with Rod Stryker, and dance from around the world.
