Explore and experience the benefits of slowing down and balancing a restorative practice with a more physical practice- and how to integrate it beyond the mat. Melissa will reference and draw content from Judith Lasater’s book Living Your Yoga and guiding principles she has developed based on the teachings of BKS Iyengar.
10 min – Welcome / Orientation / Guided Meditation to get grounded in the body
20 min – Discussion/lecture on What is Restorative Yoga Mindsets & Methods
75 min – Guided Restorative Yoga practice focusing on breath awareness and deep relaxation
15 min – Reflection + Q&A + Rest & Digest handout/take home that includes methods & mindsets to practice in daily- will include books & other resources

What to expect/bring:
• Bring a yoga mat
• Bring a thick stiff blanket/s
• Bring any other comforts that will support rest and relaxation (es: eye pillow, or pillow)
• (Optional) Bring block/s (we also sell blocks) + a bolster if you have one
• Bring a journal and pen for taking notes
• Wear loose fitting comfortable clothes
• Follow COVID protocol

About the instructor: Melissa Chevalier

Melissa ChevalierI’m devoted to the practice of simplicity and thoughtful design solutions that support compassionate communication, creativity and conscious awareness. As a natural organizer, I seek to create best practices with a human-centered approach. I believe anything is possible with a dedicated positive attitude, flexible mindset and a healthy dose of playfulness.
I work with individuals, teams and organizations to create meaningful connections through creative problem solving, visual storytelling and learning experiences that serve the goals of the larger ecosystem. My work and process weave together Human-Centered Design, Nonviolent Communication and Yogic philosophy. My consulting and facilitation style integrates a unique blend of playfulness, practicality and a devotion to the creative spirit.
I have worked with various organizations over the past 20 years of my career to develop and design custom leadership toolkits, playbooks, training resources and best practices that support nonprofits, startups and mid-sized agencies to the Fortune 500. I hold an MFA from California College of the Arts with a focus on artist books and visual design, and have a 250hr yoga certification with Yoga Alliance.
