[Live Streamed] Restorative Mantra Bath: Deep Listening with Claudette Evans & Nicole Bratt
Nov 7, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm| $50
Special Online Event with Claudette Evans & Nicole Bratt
Rest is sacred. And necessary for sustaining us in action. The time is now. The time is always. Claudette and Nicole invite you to this unique ceremony: come as you are, and lay it down.
Join these two skillful teachers on a two-hour, health-giving sojourn into the healing waters of your internal landscape – in community. They will hold space for you to rest deeply in stillness and ease while held by the magic of Claudette’s soothing mantras.
Restorative yoga is the practice of intentional pause, designed to soothe your nervous system. The resonant healing practice of chanting Sanskrit mantra can help us focus, slow down and bring awareness to our thoughts. When the same phrase is repeated again and again with great devotion, it can result in both the singer and the listener achieving a state of deep relaxation, joy, and inner peace. The combined, potent, and cumulative effects of which allow your mind, breath, and body more spaciousness in which you can restore and tune in to your inner wisdom.
Participants can expect to sit and/or recline on the floor, in supported shapes. Students will want to dress very comfortably, and set themselves up for private, quiet, uninterrupted time for the duration of the event.
All bodies and experience levels are enthusiastically welcomed.
To get the most out of this practice, the instructors recommend the following:
✓ Eye cover (alternatives: hand towel, bandana, scarf, etc)
✓ Bolster (alt: 2-3 bath towels rolled up tightly, 1-2 bed pillows, couch cushion, etc)
✓ 4 blankets or bath towels, including one large enough to cover your whole body
✓ 2 yoga blocks (alt: stack of books, bound together if that prevents slipping)
✓ Thin pillow for your head (alt: a blanket or towel)
✓ Chair (alt: couch, coffee table, sturdy box, something that you can rest your lower legs on when lying on your back on the floor)
✓ Optional, if such things enhance your sensory relaxation experience:
1-2 sandbags (for placement, perhaps, on low belly or shoulders) – DIY: these can simply be unopened bags of sugar/rice/beans, etc
Date & Time: Sunday, November 7th, 2021 @5pm-7pm

About the instructors: Nicole Bratt & Claudette Evans
Nicole, a Midwest native, is committed to holding space for students so that they may benefit from this elegant practice we know as yoga. She is deeply honored to be doing just that as the Studio Manager at Seattle Yoga Arts. Her life passion is cultivating vibrant and inclusive community wellness, and she is excited to bring her diverse background as a graphic designer, yoga teacher, event planner, photographer, volunteer coordinator, and small business owner to SYA.
As a group fitness instructor, Nicole explored yoga briefly in her 20s, but initially there was little resonance. When yoga crossed her path again in her 30s, she discovered she was ready to fully embrace its life-changing gifts. Her path led to completing both 200-hr and 500-hr teacher trainings at Yoga Tree San Francisco, and she now specializes in Restorative, gentle, therapeutic, and prenatal modalities. She is passionate about the power of stillness as a transformational experience, as well as an antidote to urban living. After 12+ years living, working, and studying in San Francisco, Nicole transplanted to our lush, beautiful Seattle. When she’s not at the studio, you are likely to find Nicole outdoors, listening to live music, creating art, making/eating delicious food, adventuring near and far, or taking a nap.
What to expect in Claudette’s classes: Claudette has a genuine passion for meeting students where they are, helping guide them toward an experience of greater strength and freedom, while allowing them to discover the wisdom that lies within their own bodies. You’ll find Claudette’s classes infused with her warm, integrative, and creative spirit, along with explorations in mantra and vibration. Her enthusiasm and curiosity are catching, and it’s clear that her teaching draws on her own love of physicality and mental engagement. Through a deft weaving of precise alignment, thoughtful insight, and a great sense of humor, Claudette’s classes create space for self-expression, clarity of focus, and the sheer joy of movement.
Main Influences/Styles/Traditions: Anusara, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Sanskrit. She also has been strongly influenced by Douglas Brooks, Christopher Hareesh Wallis, Christina Sell, Sianna Sherman, Amy Ippoliti, Ross Rayburn, Jason Crandell, and Meghan Currie.
