After more than fifteen years, almost thirty residential yoga teacher trainings, and over 300 graduates, we have decided to make some significant changes to our yoga teacher training, making it easier and more affordable than ever to join our community and complete your training with Samarya.

There is simply no other yoga teacher training like Samarya.

Do you want to focus on accessible yoga and social justice?

Yoga based therapy or yoga service? Are you interested in radical inclusion and yoga as a mystic and spiritual tradition?

Then why not join a training that has included all of these components from the very beginning?

At Samarya, inclusion, accessibility and service aren’t just the newest craze – we have always been committed to inclusion and accessibility, we have always been about service, and we have never been afraid to talk about yoga as a spiritual discipline, nor to advocate for our yoga practice as a radical call to social justice and social change.  We teach and practice yoga as a spiritual and mystic discipline first, always emphasizing personal practice, historical and cultural context and a deep relationship to the true self.

We now have three options for you to join us in this sacred retreat setting:

  1. The two week yoga teacher training option – this is one component of our 200 hour teacher training. Residential training is April 13 – 27, 2018. You can start gathering your associated hours today via our multiple online offerings.
  2. The one week deep dive  for yoga teachers, students and enthusiasts who are:
interested in pursuing a 300 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training (this comprises one part of our brand new 300 hour training)
interested in pursuing IMT certification, but who have already completed a 200 hour teacher training
interested in deepening their understanding and practice of yoga philosophy and related contemplative practices
  3. The three day option  for returning students, those looking to continue study in IMT and students curious about the training, but not yet ready to take the full plunge. See description below.

We also have four possibilities for financial assistance:

    1. Diversity scholarship
    2. Fellowship
    3. Work-trade
    4. Workshop discounts

Since we opened our doors in 2001, The Samarya Center has always been on the forefront of accessible yoga, of service, of inclusion and social change. Our students graduate with the inner fire of contemplative practice, a love of service, and an understanding of systems of privilege, appropriation and radical inclusion, and the ability to teach a solid, heartfelt, culturally competent and deeply welcoming asana class to all levels.

About the Teacher: Molly Lannon Kenny
Molly-Lannon-Kenny-Samarya-Center

Molly Lannon Kenny has been on the path to fulfilling her dharma since her earliest memories.  As a child, her parents would frequently take her and her brothers and sisters to the bookstore and let them wander for hours, lost in the magic of words and pictures.  Molly often found herself sitting cross legged, flipping through BKS Iyengar’s Light on Yoga, intrigued and entranced by the photos and the mystery behind them.  As a child, she was both physical and flexible, and often heard “you should do yoga!” from the adults around her, although it had very little meaning to her, but in fact, was most likely what sent her to the Yoga section of the bookstore in the seventies, long before Yoga was so widely accepted and practiced in the United States.

Life brought her many opportunities to share her fire and to realize her dream, but it was only when she discovered Yoga as a practice, rather than an odd set of circus tricks, did her specific path become clear to her.  Molly has been teaching Yoga to all levels of practitioners for over ten years, and has worked tirelessly to create outreach programs to people who would otherwise not have the opportunity to experience joy and contentment through the timeless teachings of Yoga.

In 2001, she founded The Samarya Center for Humankind (ness), a 501 c 3 non-profit organization dedicated to individual transformation and radical social change. She created, published and trademarked a unique therapy method, Integrated Movement Therapy, built on these same principles of acceptance and inclusion.  She has written and taught extensively on the topics of Yoga as Therapy and Yoga as a means to individual and social change, and is widely known as a vibrant, funny, accessible teacher, with a heart of gold and a spirit of fire.
