LUMINOUS BEING: A RADIANCE SUTRAS VINYASA
Class with Live Music by Joss Jaffe
Come immerse yourself in the exquisitely sensual, luminous world of The Radiance Sutras as a moving meditation that will nourish and enliven your entire being. Accompanied by live musicians, the weaving of playful and restful asanas, sutras and song throughout this class will invite you into a space of sheer joy and utter relaxation.
This is an invitation to discover the Radiance Sutras: 112 Gateways to the Yoga of Wonder and Delight by Lorin Roche, a fresh version of the classic meditation text, the Vijnana Bhairava Tantra. Various sutras will be shared throughout the class, coming alive as movement and song.
Appropriate for all levels of practitioner, including beginners.
Class will be accompanied by the music of Joss Jaffe and guest musicians Johanna Beekman and Ehssan Karimi. A concert will follow the class from 8 – 10 pm with Joss and guests.
Melanie has over twelve years of experience teaching yoga and meditation. She holds degrees in Dance and Interdisciplinary Art and Dance with a focus on Public Art from the University of Washington and graduated from the Brian Utting School of Massage in Seattle. She has served as a teaching assistant for world renowned yoga and meditation teacher training programs created by Shiva Rea, Lorin Roche, and Camille Maurine and helps facilitate several 200 hour Yoga Alliance approved meditation teacher trainings.
Melanie is an editor of the book “The Radiance Sutras: 112 Gateways to the Yoga and Wonder of Delight,” an English version of an ancient Sanskrit text considered to the be an exploration of all meditation practices. Along with Lorin, she is the co-creator of Radiance Sutras Vinyasa, an embodied approach to meditation.
She currently teaches for the University of Washington Mindfulness Project and is the studio director of Pyramid Yoga at Ballard Health Center.
Spotlight on Yoga, a new FRIDAY evening class to showcase the very best of what Seattle has to offer in the way of yoga and related body-mind-spirit practices and activities.
Doors open 5:30 PM
Class starts at 6:00 PM promptly
Class ends at 7:30 PM promptly
Cost is $10 drop-in or $9 on an OmCulture pass. Pay cash, check, or credit card at the door.
Bring your own mat (we do have a few mats to lend if you forget).
This class will be followed up by a special bonus event: Concert with Joss Jaffe & Guests

***If you attend both the yoga class and the after event, you are most welcome to bring snacks for the “intermission”. Some snacks will be provided by OmCulture.***
