Summer Solstice Restorative Yoga and Massage Workshop
Jun 22, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm| $35
“This is the solstice, the still point of the sun, its cusp and midnight, the year’s threshold and unlocking, where the past lets go of and becomes the future; the place of caught breath.” Margaret Atwood
Please join Iris McComb and Darla Mosse Saturday June 22, 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. for this soothing workshop that combines restorative yoga and massage. As you are guided through the restorative practice, a licensed massage therapist will provide hands on touch to reduce muscle tension. Props will be used for support in these longer held postures, with the intention of calming the nervous system and quieting the mind. Essential oils will be used for additional balancing and relaxation. This workshop will be a deeply nourishing and tranquil experience that will allow you to move your focus inward and away from the stressors of daily life.
Date: Jun 22nd, 2019
Time: 3:00 – 5:00pm
Location: Aditi Yoga & Bodywork Studio
About the instructors:
I began practicing yoga regularly in 2007 for exercise. It soon became much more than just a physical practice. It became a way of being in the world for me. I completed the 200 hour teacher training through 8 Limbs Yoga in 2013 and have been teaching yoga since 2014. I’m currently working towards obtaining my 500 hour teacher training certification through 8 Limbs Yoga. The practice I teach is flowing and focuses greatly in connecting breath with movement so that the practice becomes a moving meditation. I also teach restorative yoga and believe greatly in the calming benefits this practice can bring for all of us. Yoga should be fun and laughter is always welcome.
In addition to teaching yoga, I’ve been a RN for over 20 years. The focus of my nursing practice has been working with people who have chemical dependency issues, mental health issues, and in maternal/infant health.
With an extensive background in dance and yoga, Iris has always cultivated a keen physical self awareness and is particularly interested in the ways different experiences manifest uniquely in each person’s body. She first became seriously interested in bodywork after experiencing the great emotional release that can occur in tandem with physical release, and her understanding of the connection between mind, body, and spirit has continued to deepen with every massage given and received. Iris graduated from the Northwest Academy of the Healing Arts and is trained in techniques such as deep tissue, Swedish relaxation, trigger point work, myofascial release, prenatal massage, and reiki. She approaches each massage with compassion, intuition, and sensitivity to individual needs, combining both deep and gentle work to usher the body into a state of relaxation where profound release may take place.
