Learn and explore Surya Namaskara A &B, more commonly known as Sun Salutation A & B.
Sun Salutations are typically used in the beginning of a Vinyasa or Ashtanga style class to increase circulation and blood flow throughout the body and move the mind into a more “flow” like state, bringing the awareness to the breath within the asana practice. These simple poses can be a practice all on their own.
In this fun-filled workshop we will breakdown the anatomy of each pose used in Sun A and Sun B. We will also utilize and explore props and how they can make each asana accessible. Every “Body” is designed differently so we take our time understanding the anatomy of the posture, how our body feels in each pose and how to mindfully use our breath to guide our bodies though the sequence of poses that make up the Sun Salutation practice. Come join us on “date” and enjoy a fun-filled informative workshop.

About the instructor: Rachel Luchsinger
Rachel came to yoga later in her life. She had studied Eastern Philosophy and Buddhism early in her college years, but had never started a serious yoga practice until 2010.It was at Sol Yoga in Seattle, that she discovered her community of yogis. She found her teachers, Adrienne Rabena and Allison Mahaffy at Sol yoga in 2011 and studied with them exclusively in studio for 2 years. In 2013 Rachel and her husband decided to leave the PNW to volunteer at a Wildlife refuge in Belize.
Being without a formal studio, allowed Rachel to hone her personal practice both on and off the mat. It was through this experience that nature and simplicity began to deepen her understanding of yoga beyond the poses. Upon returning to Seattle in 2014, Rachel knew that she wanted to take her practice deeper. She would attend workshops and online courses, but it wasn’t until 2018 that she decided to go through a formal teacher training.
She recently graduated from The Craft of Teaching Yoga 200hr RYT at Bohemian Studios with Adrienne and Eric Rabena. Rachel’s teaches a creative, intuitive Vinyasa flow that holds space for the student to explore their own practice throughout the class. She believes the richness of yoga is a gift that has something to teach you every time you are able to relax and open yourself up to it. She draws attention to the breath within the movement, enabling students to start to look inside and get curious about whats dancing around within the mind, body spirit.
