What is The Body as Teacher?
An improvisational dance class created by interdisciplinary artist, West Liberty. West’s background in dance, yoga and other movement practices as well as writing, visual art & singing allows them to give others the tools they need to connect with their bodies more deeply and learn to interpret the signals their bodies are sending to them.
Who is the Body as Teacher For?
Anyone looking to increase their resiliency and sense of well-being and to feel more embodied. There are classes for a wide variety of ages and folks of all skill and experience levels with dance are encouraged to attend. If you’d like to chat more about what to expect please email thebodyasteacher@gmail.com
Why the Body as Teacher?
Movement is the language of the body and our bodies have a lot to tell us. Dance can help us understand and process our emotions, alleviate stress & anxiety and help us feel more connected to ourselves and our communities. It’s actually quite rare to have the space and time in our day to day lives to listen deeply to what our bodies have to say. The Body as Teacher provides that as well as tools for learning and interpreting your body’s unique language.
*Open Flight Studio is not wheelchair accessible. There is a flight of stairs to the studio, which is on the 2nd Floor. It is not a scent-free space. Please feel free to reach out to me with accessibility questions and I will do my best to accommodate!
