This highly effective program is based on the two largest, most definitive studies utilizing yoga therapy for the treatment of chronic lower back pain.

This 6-week series offers a particularly gentle form of yoga, with a strong focus on individual adaptation and breath development. You will learn yoga poses, basic anatomy, breath work, and how deep relaxation helps alleviate chronic low back pain and tension. We will explore the relationship between neck pain and back pain, as well as how tension in the jaw and shoulders may contribute to chronic discomfort.

In this course, we take a deeper look at the breath and relationship to chronic pain. This style of breathing compliments the Essential Low Back Program, and is based on scientific research by Robin Rothenberg, the creator and author of the Essential Low Back Program. This breakthrough type of breathing helps calm the nervous system, builds inner core strength, and improves overall health.

Each student receives individualized attention and the practice is extremely accessible for all body types. This enhanced course (the next stage of healing) is appropriate for new students and returning students who wish to continue working toward reducing pain and healing. This series is taught progressively and intended for students of all levels and abilities.

Tuition: $199 for 6-class series. Classes are based on The Essential Low Back Program workbook and 5-practice CD (included in the course a $35 value).

About the instructor: Starr Sanborn

Starr SanbornStarr is a long­time practitioner of Viniyoga. As a teacher, Starr adapts the practice to the unique conditions, needs and interests of each student. Her classes focus on breath, alignment and self-awareness. She teaches with compassion and a true understanding of chronic pain. Starr is a an Essential Yoga Therapy 500 hour Certified Yoga Instructor, and is certified to teach the Essential Low Back Program., and certified in Yoga and Scoliosis.

Starr currently teaches Yoga for Healing at Yoga Bliss, as well as gentle Viniyoga and mindfulness to the staff at Swedish Hospital in four locations throughout the greater Seatle area. She is certified to teach the Essential Low Back Program and treatment of Scoliosis. She sees clients privately in-home and at Yogabliss, and finds it very rewarding to help others with chronic health conditions, and stress reduction through the practice of yoga.

Starr Sanborn specializes in therapeutic yoga & chronic pain management. She is certified as an Essential Low Back Program Instructor, EYT & RYT 500hr.
