About the teacher: Melissa Longfellow

Melissa Longfellow headshot SYNI am here to serve and this is my story. I lead programs for the Baptiste Yoga Institute and I’m an Experienced, 500-Hour (E-RYT 500) teacher and trainer. I created the Power Yoga Academy and Yoga On Liquid, Int’l. I have been a yogi and a seeker ever since I can remember. Sometimes in very odd ways that I didn’t even know what I was seeking. And in a seemingly unlikely path for a half-Guatemalan/half-French-Canadian-WASP raised Catholic in suburban Massachusetts, at age 8 I was given the name “Padmavati” (lotus flower) by the late Siddha Yoga guru Swami Muktananda. Unknown to me at the time, it would be the beginning of my yogic journey. After several years of being unconscious of, and unkind to my body, I sought out yoga for healing and serendipitously arrived into a daily yoga practice with Baptiste Yoga founder, Baron Baptiste (who continues to be my main teacher, nearly 15 years later). In the months that followed, I watched in awe as my body healed, my life transformed and my heart opened (possibly for the first time, I noticed). After moving from Boston to San Diego to Bellingham WA. I am deeply inspired by yoga and the life practice of it, as well as the pursuit of surf, sun, snowboarding, playing with my 2 boys, painting murals, making green smoothies and embracing my family legacies of both Maya culture and cosmology and the teachings of JC, Buddha and many other wise ones. Including friends and students and family. When not in rainy, beautiful Bellingham, you will likely find me traveling to teach, pursuing a good wave or teaching SUP Yoga in some sunny, tropical location. When you take a class with me you will feel my sincere love and enthusiasm for yoga and for you! I will lovingly hold the space for you excavate the gems that make you uniquely amazing!

We look forward to seeing you at the event!
