At Aya Yoga Oasis we embrace our differences – and thrive together in community. Aya Yoga Oasis’ 200 hour training will empower you to become a mindful, intentional teacher through an integrated training curriculum that emphasizes teaching to all levels and abilities.

Over the course of six months, you will dive deep into a better understanding of your own personal practice, study rich history, philosophy and the origins of the practice, learn foundational teaching techniques and methodology, begin to craft your own unique voice, and share your experiences in a supportive community.

The Aya Yoga Oasis 200 hour teacher training meets on select weekends from January thru June, 2024.

Saturdays 9am-6pm
Sundays 9am-4pm

Core Curriculum Content includes:

185 hours of group training

15 hours coursework plus assigned readings

Philosophy and History of yoga and its lineages:
Yoga philosophy, history, and the Yoga Sutras
Vinyasa Yoga Lineage
Teaching Methodology

Asana, anatomy and alignment:

Foundational poses
Alignment principles
Anatomical principles
Anatomy for breathwork

Sequencing and teaching practicum:
Learn and practice teach Aya’s signature FIRE (power vinyasa) and WATER (slow flow vinyasa) sequencing blueprint
Adapt sequence blueprints to create various classes for different levels, themes, and energetic effects
Inclusive language and teaching to diverse audiences

Meditation:
Meditation basics and types of meditation
Establishing a personal meditation practice
How and why to include meditation in Asana focused classes
Mudras and Mantras

Subtle body:
Pranayama
Chakras and Nadis
Koshas and Kleshas
Prana Vayus

Sanskrit:
Terms and basics of the root language of yoga
Sanskrit names of the poses in the Fire and Water sequences
How and why to include Sanskrit in teaching

Business of yoga and ethics:
How to prepare and audition for teaching positions
How to prepare to start your yoga business
Insurance, liability, basic bookkeeping
Marketing and promotion
Yoga Ethics and the impact of Western Culture

Self-study:
Develop your personal practice
Attend a minimum of 10 group classes
Observe 4 group classes
Complete detailed self-inquiry into how Western culture impacts your practice
Complete all homework as assigned and receive a passing grade of 80% on final exam

Please note that a $200 non-refundable deposit is required to register for this training.
Tuition includes an unlimited membership for the duration of the training dates, course manual and supplies. Required texts are not included in course pricing.

About the instructor: Carrie Johnson

Carrie Johnson BioCarrie is the owner of Aya Yoga Oasis, a certified yoga instructor (E-RYT200 and YACEP), and an adventurous world explorer. Carrie enjoys exploring new cultures and new places, while keeping an open mind to new possibilities.

Carrie is also very passionate about sharing yoga with her students in a way that allows them to cultivate the art of listening to their body. Every class she teaches allows time for each student to experiment and to learn something new about themselves.
